CAIN,SIZEMORE
I am looking for info on my gt grandfather. He was either born as John wM
Cain 1866 Gwinnett GA or WM J J (possibly Jonathan) Cain same birth date
and place. He died 1937 Merced County, Ca buried in Redlands Hillcrest
Memorial Cem. Redlands, CA. M- Vina Rose Sizemore 6-29-1884 Gwinnett
County, GA. They lived in Alabama at times. I have a 1900 census of them
with their family living in Lawrenceville in WolfSprings county, AL. Some
of their children were born in Gwinnett, GA and some in AL,.I have my
Sizemore line identified but lack anything to link my gt grandfather to
his family. I am not quite sure about his parents, etc. I do have the
1880 Gwinnett GA census that confirms my gt grandmother Vina Sizemore age
14 with her family and extended family members. But I found a Cicero Cain
and Mary (Wheeler) Cain as her neighbor too and they had a son John WM
Cain age 14 b- 1866 Gwinnett GA. I am trying to find out if this was him
or not. I do know that Cicero Cain and Mary Cain are buried in Cleburne
County AL. I thought that since I do know that my gt grandparents also
lived in AL and GA that it was too much of a coincidence that Cicero and
his family moved back and forth from GA and died in AL too. I do know
that the Wheeler's are also from GA and AL. Please help me. Let me know
if anyone has info or need more info from me.

grandparents
CICERO COLUMBUS CAIN AND MARY E WHEELER CAIN
They were both born 1844 Gwinnett GA and can be found on the 1850 1860
census living in gwinnett GA as neighbors.
They move away on the 1870 census and I am trying to locate them.
They moved back to gwinnett GA on the 1880 census. Cicero was also a
neighbor to my Sizemore line on the 1850,1860 census and then again on
the 1880 census. Cicero's father JAMES CAIN was a neighbor to my EPHRIAM
SIZEMORE. Cicero grew up with Seaborn Sizemore. I found Seaborn Sizemore
on the 1870 Dekalb Co GA census before he moved back to Gwinnett GA for
the 1880 census but I can not locate Cicero and Mary Cain in 1870.
Cicero's son John WM Cain marrys Seaborns daughter Vina Rose Sizemore.
Except he went by WM J J Cain on all records that I have. Does anyone
have any info to help me find Cicero's family in 1870 and how I can prove
his son John WM Cain is my Wm J J Cain b- 1866 Gwinnett GA. It's ironic
that Vina's family was neighbors to Cicero's family for many years if
it's not him.

I have the missing puzzle piece to my
Wheeler/Cain/Sizemore mystery. I had a gt grandfather WM Jonathan Cain b-
I thought 4/1866 Gwinnett GA. He was actually born 4/11/1865 Gwinnett GA.
I know that he married Vina Rose Sizemore 6-29-1884 Gwinnett GA(I hav
ethis doc). I know people usually married their neighbors in 1800s. This
is why as I found my Vina R Sizemore age 14 in Gwinnett GA 1880 census,
their neighbors include Cicero c Cain and Mary Wheeler cain. They had a
son John WM Cain b- 1866. This puzzled my for a year. I didn't have
parent names for my gt grandfather and all of the info I had said WM
Jonathan Cain. So, How come there was no other boy his age with the same
name living in Gwinnett GA if he was born and raised there? Well, I had
someone from Merced County,CA transcribe his death certificate and it
listed who his parents were. It confirmed that Cicero C Cain and Mary
Wheeler Cain were indeed his parents. That means that the person doing
the 1880 census put donw the wrong b date and transpossed his name. His
name was WM Jonathan Cain.He is even listed as J J Cain in the History of
Gwinnett gA book. He is also listed on his marriage certificate as W J J
Cain. I think the second J may be James after James Cain his grandfather,
Cicero's father. All of the Cain info that I found on John Manning Cain
sites only had Cicero Columbus Cain as m- Mary E Wheeler. they didn't
show who their kids were or their families. I now have my info to add and
a mystery solved. If anyone is interested in the info that I have please
email me.

this information is needed to help identify Indian herritage as we are in
the process of trying to adopt 11 year old twins, a boy and girl, who
have been children living in our neighborhood for the last 4 yrs. They
have some Indian herritage, ( not enough for indian benifits ) yet the
indian community still has the ability to dictate who can adopt these
children. If we can prove Indian herritage, then we will hav a much
better chance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We Love these kids who have been wards of Washington State for several
years and have endured many foster homes. We would like them to become a
permanant part of our family and put an end to the foster home syndrome
they have endured. They Love us too and want nothing more than to be
adopted by us.
Per family stories, Ruby Lona BAxter was 1/2 Indian, (Mother was Carrie
Francis Baxter-Weems ) not sure what tribe, Cherokee, Chauktaw or
BlackFoot have all been mentioned.

Looking for any information on a Sara RILEY
or O'RILEY who would probably have lived in or near Borden
Springs/Piedmont around 1868. She would have been of childbearing age,
probably young. She may have had a brother named Will who married a
PENCE. She may have borne a child by Andy WILLIAMS of the same area.
Andy was married to Nicie PENCE at the time, however there is evidence to
suggest that Sara was the mother of Andy's son, John Elliott
WILLIAMS. At least, that is the information on John Elliott's death
certificate. I realize death certificates can be wrong, but my oldest
surviving descendant of this family swears that the person who gave the
information for the death certificate wouldn't have just 'made
that up.' Can anybody shed any light on this puzzle?

Sarah A. PUTMAN married Rufus WHEELER 6
October 1849. She is listed back home with her parents in the Hiram
PUTMAN household as a widow on the 1850 Benton County, Alabama census. My
paternal ggrandmother, Sarah A. WHEELER, born in Cleburne County,
Alabama, married Abselom KEITH January 13, 1856 in Carroll County,
Georgia. Their son, William Clayton KEITH was born in Cleburne County,
Alabama in 1866. In 1869 Abselom KEITH married Nancy BULLARD, so either
Sarah died or they divorced. Abselom lived in Jefferson County, Alabama
during the later years of his life. One family story is that Sarah A.
WHEELER KEITH is buried on the banks of the Tennessee River. I have been
searching for information on Sarah A. WHEELER for several years now and I
wonder if Sarah A. PUTMAN who married Rufus WHEELER could have married
Abselom KEITH after Rufus WHEELER'S death. Any bit of information will be

I would like information concerning the

and died in Georgia in 1911 or 1912. I would like any information on
Aramintha. Did she remain in that area and die there or did she die
prior to his leaving? Family history is that he left her for the next
wife. Since the 1890 census records were destroyed, I have run into a

I am looking for info on a Martha Earp
Howell. I believe she was born in 1836. She is listed in the 1880
census of
Oak Level, Alabama as a widow. I believe she was married to
Hudson Howell and her children were: Emmor, Wm. R., Augusty, & Hudsina.
She also had a niece living with her by the name of Mattie Earp. I need
to know who the parents of Martha were. Her brother, Joseph, I think was
the father of Mattie (Martha Caroline) Earp or Arp. I can't find a
Mother's name for Mattie. Also, I would like to know where Martha and
her husband is buried.
Any info would be appreciated.

BURGESS:
To all those hard working folks who transcribed the newspapers (and lots
of other files): Thank you, thank you, thank you. After 10 years of
searching I finally found my g-grandfather's date of death. But,
genealogy research remains true to form: you learn one thing, then 10
more mysteries pop up. Such is my case, so I hope someone can help clear
up additional questions. I found the
obituary of W.L. (William Langford) BURGESS in "The Cleburne News",
Thursday, July 2, 1925. It states that W.L. BURGESS was survived by two
sons: ELBERT BURGESS, ALBERT BURGESS, and two daughters: MRS. B.D. OWEN
and MRS.
W.M. AUSTIN, both of Edwardsville. In my records I have only one
daughter, ATHIE BURGESS, and she married JOHN T. POLLARD in 1887. Is one
of the women mentioned in the obit
Athie's second marriage? Who is the other woman? Could the obit be wrong
(I know there are often errors in newspaper notices)? Another son,
WILLIAM A. BURGESS was not mentioned; did he predecease his father?
Hope these names ring a bell with someone out there.
Thanks,

Looking for any
informatin on the family of Alexander L. WILLIAMSON. According to Clara
Stovall, The Stovalls and Williamson families moved from Newnan, Coweta
County, Georgia and settled in Clay County, Alabama. After some time
there, they moved to Westtobga, Chulafinee, Cleburne County, Alabama.
Alexander's daughter Ellen, married into the Stovall family. Other
families that I have been able to find close ties with are the Haywoods,

I have found in a marriage listing from Coweta, County Georgia, that a
Alexander Williamson and a Sarah Carter were married on Jan 10, 1834.
Alexander would have been about 21. Georgia:

years of age, born in Ga living in the home of John Brown and Elizebeth

Alabama law did not require the recording of birth or death certificates
until 1908. Statewide recording of marriages began in 1936; prior to that
time, they were recorded at the county. Not all records are complete.
Each county had vital events which went unrecorded or records which were
lost or damaged. Many courthouses have burned and the records they
contained were lost.
Benjamin Williamson writes via internet that; Alexander had 2 brothers,
Ruben and Benjamin Williamson. You can find the three living close to
each other in Carroll Co. Ga. during the 1840 Ga. Census. I believe that
my family is related to Alexander. I descend from Reuben Williamson who
initially came to the area via Coweta Co. In 1840 Reuben, Benjamin, and
Alexander were all living in the 682 district of Carroll. They all drew
land initially in Coweta. There seem to be too many similarities to be
coincidence. However, I have been unable to tie them together.

SMITH-CRUMPTON
I am researching the JEHU CRUMPTON FAMILY and the ROBERT H. SMITH FAMILY.
ROBERT SMITH(b. 1808, SC) married SARAH "SALLY" CRUMPTON. Their oldest
son was my ancestor. He was WILLIAM ENOCH H. SMITH, b.18 -d. CIVIL WAR.
He married SARAH COUCH, daughter of JOSEPH COUCH. (see the 1850, 1860,
1870, RANDOLPH and CLEBURNE, AL CENSUS RECORDS).ENOCH and SARAH had five
children: JOSEPH ELBERT "JOE TURK", MARY LUCINDA, NANCY, MALINDA, and
SARAH.I think that ROBERT SMITH was a son of GEORGE SMITH and NANCY
COLLIER. Here again, look at the 1850 Census records for RANDOLPH
COUNTY, AL. It's all there. The Smiths and Collier Families, along with
the Crumpton Families are all along the Macedonia Road from LOST CREEK to
MACEDONIA!!!!!
Study the 1860 Randolph Census. ENOCH SMITH and SALLY COUCH along with
their five little children must have recently arrived in the area,
because they are in the household with ROBERT and SALLY.
Please E-MAIL me if you want additional info. I was born in a house on
the GA/AL Stateline Rd. where four generations of my family lived. I know
the area like the back of my hand. If I can help you, please let me know.
