NEWELL, LEE, OWENS, JORDAN. I would like any and all information on the above listed surnames (all ancestors). All of these families are rooted in Cleburne County. The families are centered in the Hopewell and Abernathy areas. The LEEs come from Hightower. Jeremiah David JORDAN was my g-g grandfather. He fought in Co. H 56th Ga. Infantry. My g-g grandfather NEWELL was John, I think. He is buried at the Edwardsville Cemetary. I have been to his grave. My great grandfather LEE is buried at the Ranburne Baptist Church, supposedly. My OWENS relatives are Julius, my great grandfather and his wife, Bertie Petti OWENS. Any help would be appreciated.

They lived in Cleburne CO. untill moving to Blount Co. around 1914 to 1916 after getting Martin. I believe that Martha's mother was Elizabeth LARUE. Martha had 2 other siblings one was Sallie LARUE that married a PERRY and moved to Texas. From what I understand Elizabeth LARUE was married to a VICE before marring a LARUE. Robert ODAM married Laura Melinda YARBROUGH. They had Vada ODAM who married Marvin Bishop COX before 1929. Marvin is the son of George Howard COX and Elizabeth BLAKE. Vada & Marvin are supposedly buried in Shailo (Probably not correct spelling) Cemetary in Cherokee County and George & Elizabeth are supposedly buried in Hurrican Cemetary, Cleburne County. I would be interested in information on all of the above.

Researching SOUTHERLAND and SMITH descendants who lived in Cleburne County, AL between 1840 and 1950 and probably later. My gg grandmother Margaret SMITH, born May 15, 1832 married a SOUTHERLAND ca 1851 and had the following known children: John A SOUTHERLAND, born July 1852, (married to Eliza Jane GAY), Sarah SOUTHERLAND born ca 1866, Andrew SOUTHERLAND born ca 1868.
