ASHLEY, DUNLAP posted by Nancy Berry on Tuesday, September 1, 1998

First of all, let me tell you that I am very confused.  I was sure that we had our family traced back about 6 generations past what we already knew only to find out that it was impossible to have been so.  Now, we are starting back at square 1.   What we do know is that a Rueben ASHLEY and his wife, Minerva DUNLAP (both thought to have been born in South Carolina - possibly Abbeville County) moved into Heard County, GA in about 1840 - 1850.  They first show up on the 1850 census as far as we have been able to tell. Our family bibles all have Rueben's father being listed as Tobe ASHLEY, but we can find no trace of a Tobe.  It is probably a nickname, so it doesn't help us very much

CRAWFORD, Thomas Fredrick. Does anyone know where he is buried? He died in Heflin in the 1970's. Wife's name was Kitty, probably Catherine.
