BACHUS posted by Melba Balwick on Sunday, January 30, 2000

My great grandfather, Weston BACHUS was from Coweta County Georgia, but, was buried somewhere in Cleburn County Alabama or in a town named Chulafinnee. I have reason to believe his name, as well as that of my grand father, James Jefferson BACHUS, are listed somewhere in the Cleburn County 1880, 1900, and 1910 census records. I would like any information one might have regarding the BACHUS name in any Alabama records.

GILES, LEDBETTER, THACH posted by Jennifer Wilson Hunt on Monday, January 31, 2000

I want to learn more about my Native American heritage. My great grandfather was Charles A. LEDBETTER born June 1887 in Cleveland,TN and he settled in Abernathy, AL. He owned some saw mills, but I'm not sure where. His mother was Charlotta or Charlette J. GILES. She was born March 1869 in Nebraska. She was 1/2 Cherokee and married Franklin Perry LEDBETTER in 1885. Her maiden name was THACH? Her parents died in 1871 from the smallpox epidemic that wiped out alot of Cherokee. If anyone has any info. on the surname of THACH relating to Native Americans, please email me. Thank You!
