Ms. Avrett was preceded in death by her
husband of 58 1/2 years, Lt. Col. U.S.
Army (Ret.) Marion E. "Ted" Avrett; her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ople Beckham,
Samson; one sister, Faye BECKHAM Dean,
Enterprise; and one brother, Eddie Ray
Beckham, Enterprise.
Mrs. Avrett was born in the McCall Store
Community and graduated from Samson High
School with the class of 1940. She was Miss
Samson 1939, competing in the Peanut Festival
60 years ago. Together with her husband, Ted
Avrett, she lived a full life, which included
the U.S. Army, farming, banking and the
automobile business. Wherever she journeyed,
she made lasting friendships. She was a
member if Marvin Chapel Assemby of God
Church, AUSA, AAAA, the Fort Rucker Army
Officers' Wives Club, the Daffodil Garden
Club, the Sesame Study Club, and Bullard
Chapter of Eastern Star. Little in size, big
in heart, she gave unselfishly to family and
friends, and her memory will be forever
cherished.
Survivors include: two daughters, Faye
AVRETT (Ellis) Wise of Samson, and
Jennifer AVRETT (Mickey) Grimes of

hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Potts was a native of amd life-long
resident of Dale County where he was engaged
in farming. Mr. Potts, a loving father,
grandfatherm great-grandfather and
great-great-grandfather was preceded in death
by his beloved wife of 63 years, Addie Mae
Potts.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth
Potts and his wife, Sarah; one
daughter, Eloise POTTS Sullivan and
her husband, Joe; four grandchildren,
