JOSEPH "MIKE" ANDREWS
Joseph "Mike" Andrews, 40, of
Enterprise, died Wednesday, September 29,
1999, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday,
October 2, at Providence Baptist Church with
the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. Burial
will follow at Providence Cemetery with
Searcy Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Andrews will be placed in the church one
hour before funeral time. Visitation will be
today, Friday, October 1, at 2 p.m. The
family will receive friends at Searcy Funeral
Home tonight from 6-8 p.m.

Andrews of Enterprise; daughter,
Jessica N. Andrews of Enterprise; son,
Joseph "Lee" Andrews of Enterprise;

MARY VIRGINIA LEE
DORSEY
Mary Virginia Lee Dorsey, 83, of Elba,
died Wednesday, September 29, 1999, at Gulf
Coast Medical Center.
Services will be held at Hayes Funeral Home
Chapel on Saturday, October 2, at 11 a.m.
with the Rev. Mart Grey officiating. Burial
will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in
Elba with Hayes Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be tonight at Hayes Funeral
Home from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Dorsey was a lifelong resident of Elba
and Coffee County. She was preceded in death
by her parents,
Fountain and Glennie
Vaughan Lee of Elba and a brother,
Fountain E. Lee. The family request
in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the
American Heart Fund or the First Baptist
Church of Elba.
Survivors include: her husband,

ALVIE J. "JOE" HYATT
Mr. Alive J. "Joe" Hyatt, 72, of New
Brockton, died Tuesday, September 28, 1999,
at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today,
October 1, at Bethany Baptist Church with the
Rev. Mike Medley, Rev. Charlie Morris, and
Rev. Lane Harris officiating. Burial will
follow in Bethany Baptist Cemetery directed
by Searcy Funeral Home.
Mr. Hyatt will lie in state at the church one
hour prior to funeral time.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be
made to: The Gideons; Bethany Cemetery Fund;
Boy Scouts of America (New Brockton Troop);
The Christian Mission; The Vineyard; to
Alabama or Florida Sheriffs Boys and Girls

ETHEL MERRILL
Ethel Merrill, 76, a resident of 1008
Washington Street, Eufala, Alabama, died
Tuesday, September 28, 1999, at her home in
Eufala.
Funeral services will be held Saturday,
October 2 at 1 p.m. at the White Oak
Methodist Church of Eufala with burial to
follow in White Oak Church Cemetery. The
body will lie in state at the church from
noon until the funeral hour. Hammond Funeral
Home in charge of all arrangements.
CLOY G. "PAT" PATRICK
Mr. Cloy G. "Pat" Patrick, 70, of
Enterprise, died Wednesday, September 29,
1999, at his home in Enterprise following a
brief illness.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today,
October 1, at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Tommy Arledge and Rev. Ron Nunn
officiating. Burial will follow at
Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home
directing.
Mr. Patrick was a longtime member of the
Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church of
rural Enterprise where he served as official
board chairman for the past 18 years. He
sold cars in the city of Enterprise for many
years and later established and operated
Patrick Furniture in Enterprise until his
retirement. He was preceded in death by his
parents,
Bud and Minnie Patrick, five
brothers and a sister.
Survivors include; his wife of 51 years,
Lorene STRICKLAND Patrick; two sons,
Donnie E. Patrick, Sr. of Enterprise
and
Brady L. Patrick of Enterprise;
four grandchildren,

Sarah E. Spears, 86, of Enterprise,
died Sunday, September 12, 1999, at Monroe
Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Florida.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
today, Friday, October 1, at Meadowlawn
Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home
directing.

WILLIS
Michael Brandon Willis, 16, of Calera,
died Tuesday, September 28, 1999.
Funeral services will be today, October 1, at
Bethel Baptist Church, with graveside service
at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in
Dothan. The Rev.Allen Dennis and Dr. Fritz
Fountain will be officiating. Bolton-Brown
Service directing.
Willis was a member of Bethel Baptist Church
and a student at Cornerstone Christian
School.
He is survived by: parents, the

Mrs. (Lynn) John Willis of Calera; a
sister,
Miss Marybeth Willis of
Calera; grandparents,
Mrs. Eugenia
Willis of Cross City, Florida and the

VAN DELANO JENKS
Mr. Van Delano Jenks, 65, of
Enterprise, died Sunday morning, October 3,
1999, at Enterprise Medical Center following
an extended illness.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.,
Friday, October 15, at the First Baptist
Church of Enterprise with Dr. Frank Wells
officiating and Kent-Thornton directing
Mr. Jenks was born February 6, 1934 in Davey,
West Virginia. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy. He was employed as a custodian at the
1st Baptist Church of Elba. Mr. Jenks had
also been employed as a custodian at Elba
Hospital and at Elba Nursing Home. Mr. Jenks
was preceded in death by his father,
Masquel David Jenks, and a brother,
Charles Nelson Jenks.
Survivors include his wife;

Jenks of Enterprise; daughter and
son-in-law,
Michelle and Eric Croteau
of Pleasant Hills, California; mother,
Mayme Lee Jenks of Beckley, West
Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Garnette and Larry Strong,

Hillery Machelle Croteau; a special
niece, Patty Erdmann; and special

Sadie CORDLE Nichols, 74, Enterprise,
died Saturday, October 9, 1999, at her home
in Enterprise.

Joseph Thomas Dyess, Sr., 64, died
Friday, October 29, 1999, at Earl B. Hadlow
Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mr. Dyess was an educator for over 40 years
with Bolles School and was semi-retired.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m.,
Tuesday, November 2, at Evergreen Cemetery in
Elba. Arrangements will be by Hayes Funeral
Home of Elba.

Lamar J. Stackhouse, of ENterprise,
will be held Monday, November 1, 1999, at 2
p.m. from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 805
Coppinville Road, ENterprise, with the Rev.
Harold Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial
will follow in Llane Cemetery in Kinston,
with Sconiers Funeral Home of Enterprise
directing.
LARRY DAVID SUMMERS
Larry David Summers, 54, Dothan, died
Friday, October 29, 1999, at his residence
following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m.,
today, Sunday, October 31, at Memory Hill
Cemetery in Dothan, with Rev. Van Gauthe
officiating and Byrd Funeral Home
directing.
Flowers are acepted or memorials may be made
to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Box 2127, Dothan,
AL 36302.
Mr. Summers was born September 17, 1945 in
Dale County and lived the early years of his
life in the Coffee and Dale county areas. He
was a 1963 graduate of Enterprise High
School. He was employed with Civil Service
for several years in the print shop at Fort
Rucker and later served for nineteen years in
the Army National Guard, 31st Support
Battalion of Enterprise, prior to his
retirement in August of this year. Mr.
Summers served as a sports official for the
Enterprise and Dothan Sports Official
Association for the past 35 years. He was a
devout Christian, husband and father, and was
a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan
Summers of Dothan; his mother, Pauline
Summers of Enterprise; a son and
daughter-in-law, Britt and Rhonda
Speigner of Dothan; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Brandi and Jeff Grantham
of Ozark and Tina Austin of
Enterprise; five grandchildren, Jacob
Grantham and Ryan Grantham, both
of Ozark, Morgan Austin of Enterprise,
Brian Cook and Brandi Cook,
both of Dothan; a special cousin, Linda
Summers of Chancellor; a dear
sister-in-law and niece, Cathy
Kirkland and Kacee Kirkland; and a
nephew, Matt Whitehead.
Mr. Summers was preceded in death by his
father, Green Junior Summers, who died
in 1982.
ANICE FLORENCE WILSON
Anice Florence Wilson, 98, Enterprise,
died Friday, October 29, 1999, at Medical
Center Enterprise.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Monday, November 1, at El Bethel Assembly of
God Church with Rev. Phil Greenaway (great
nephew) officiating, assisted by Rev.
Mike Taylor. Burial will follow in Old
Tabernacle Cemetery under the direction of
Searcy Funeral Home. The family will receive
friends at Searcy Funeral Home today, Sunday,
October 31, from 3-5 p.m.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her
husband of 69 years, W. O. "Oliver"
Wilson. She was the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Pleasant Adam and Mollie MOORE
Hardwick, who came to Alabama from
Georgia in 1907. Survivors include a
step-daughter, Falbie Farley of
Charleston, N.C.; three step-grandsons; and a
host of loving nieces and nephews and grand
nieces and nephews.
