I am trying to locate the grave of my great-great-great-great-great grandfather (on my mother's side), Hubbard Stephens. I have reason to believe Hubbard was buried in Coffee County, AL. He was 15 years old when he signed up as a musician to serve under George Washington at Valley Forge and later at White Plains. After the War for Independence, he migrated to Alabama, winding up in Coffee County, I believe. He had two children, one of whom was William Stephens. They reportedly made trips down the Escambia River to trade at Pensacola during the years just after the turn of the century. Hubbard's name appeared on the 1820 U.S. Census, but not on the 1830 census, leading me to believe he died between those years. His son, William, and his family, later migrated into West Louisiana. If you could put me in touch with someone in your organization/county who could assist in this effort, I would appreciate it very much. Hubbard has another desecendant, Joseph E. Stephens, who is 91 years old (a WW II veteran) and we would like very much to make a pilgrimage to Hubbard's gravesite and, if it is not appropriately marked, we would do so. Any assistance would be appreciated very much. Sincerely, Charles E. Inman
