SOURCE & NOTES:

This muster roll from Alabama Department of Archives and History dates from May to June 1862, but here I have also added notes of some later service from the Compiled Service Records found in US National Archives.  Captain W.A. FITTS signed a requisition attached to the muster roll June 28, 1862.  My apologies for any errors contained as the copy is poor especially after man number 63.  It appears that there may be more names that are not readable.  Perhaps a better copy of the original roll can be obtained and corrections made at a future date.  Additional names are contained in the Compiled Service Records that are transcribed in my book, Gracie's Pride - The 43rd Alabama Infantry Volunteers.  The Service records are available from US National Archives in Washington, DC, and other depositories.   ~ Arthur E. Green
