Billie G. Shewbart Garner

 Bismarck, Wyoming, died Feb. 2, 200 at her home.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. George's Episcopal Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Michael Horn and W. Kendall Johnson officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Beth El Cemetery, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, both at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Billie Shewbart was born April 25, 1929 in Red Bay, Franklin Co., Al., the daughter of Avie and Willy Belle Morrow Shewbart. She was raised and attended school in LaPlata, Md. She married Charles E. Garner on Dec. 27, 1947 in LaPlata. They resided in several places around the world as Mr. Garner served in the United State Air Force. They retired in 1966 in
Cheyenne, Wyo. Mr. Garner died on April 29,1992. In December of 1993,
Billie moved to Bismarck.  Billie is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Janell and Derek Kinzler, Rapid City, S. D., Cheryl and John Castleberry, Bismarck, and Karen and Bob Gose, Springfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Charles Gose and Josh , Jill and Jackie Castleberry,; two brothers, Sonny Shewbart and
George Shewbart; one sister, Dianne Shewbart; and one special niece and
her husband, Jolene and Dan Stanton, Harpers Ferry, W. V.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Carlene.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House or the Ronald McDonald House.

Ila Belue Shewbart

 101, died Saturday, Jan 5, 2002, in Snellville, Ga.  She was a native of Tishomingo Co., Ms. and a former resident of the Red Bay, Ala., area.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with the Rev. Jack Maroon and the Rev. Billy Credille officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery.  Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Moody of Cape Cod, Mass.; a son, Virgil A. Shewbart Jr. of Snellville, Ga.; three sisters, Pauline Waddle and Maxine Stahl, both of Iuka, Ms., and Irene George of Booneville, Ms.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Esther N. Strickland Shewbart

 age 92 of Red Bay, passed away Monday,
January 22, 2001 at the Care Center of Red Bay.
Mrs. Shewbart was a native of Alabama and was retired as a school
teacher after thirty-nine years with last nineteen years at Belgreen High
School. She was a member of James Chapel Baptist Church and was its
oldest member.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Shewbart in 1993 and a daughter, Betty Jo Shewbart in 1998.  Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Digby and Rev. Carl Gaston officiating. Interment was in Dempsey Cemetery.  Mrs. Shewbart is survived by one son, Jack Shewbart and wife, Marvelene of Red Bay; three grandchildren, John Shewbart and Connie Pendegraph, both of Red Bay, and Douglas Shewbart of Russellville; eight
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two nieces.

Betty Jo Shewbart

 64, Russellville, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998 of natural causes.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red
Bay, with burial in Dempsey Cemetery. Officiating at the funeral will be Rev. Eugene Digby. She was a native of Alabama and a former resident of Owego, N.Y.  She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Esther Shewbart, Russellville; brother, Jack Shewbart and wife Marvelene Shewbart, Red Bay; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Clarence C. Shewbart.  Pallbearers will include John Shewbart, Doug Shewbart, Larry Strickland, Brandon Pendegraph, Johnny Weatherford and Lelion Shewbart.  She was retired as a commercial artist for IBM in Owego, N. Y.  She attended James Chapel Baptist Church.

Carl Shewbart

 86, Vina, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, of natural causes.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay. The
funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Burnout Baptist Church with
burial in Burnout Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church
noon-1 p.m.  Officiating at the funeral will be Rev. Dan Hindman. He was a native of Alabama.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Shewbart, Vina; sons, Forbus
Shewbart and James Shewbart, both of Vina; sisters, Mrs. Claudie James
and Mrs. Lamelle Horton, both of Vina; five grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will include James Carl Shewbart Jr., Mike Shewbart, Lance Rozelle, Bearl DeFoor, Gary Williams and Robbie Bolton.  He was retired as a cattle farmer after 63 years, and a member of
Burnout Baptist Church, Vina.

James Elton Shewbart

 79, 104 Spruce Pine, Russellville, died Monday, March 31, 1997, of natural causes.  Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home,
Russellville. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral
Home, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Spry Funeral
Home, Russellville directing. Officiating at the funeral will be Dr.
Gene Balding.  He is survived by his wife, Helen D. Shewbart, Russellville; daughter, Mary Ann Smith, Russellville; sisters, Nettie Weatherbee and Florence
McKinney, both of Red Bay, Bernice Weatherford, Vina; grandson, Olene D.
Smith Russellville.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Oniece Hardin.
He was employed as a machinist for Reynolds Aluminum. He was a member of
First Baptist Church, Russellville.  He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy and a sergeant  with the  Army-Air Force in World War II. He was a jeweler and watchmaker at  Whitten Jewelers in Russellville for a number of years.

Helen Davis Shewbart

 83, Russellville, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001,
after a brief illness.  Visitation was Friday, April 13, 2001, at Spry Chapel, Russellville. The funeral will be Saturday, April 14, 2001, in the Spry Chapel at 10 a.m., with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating at the service will
be Dr. Gene Balding. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church
Building Fund in Russellville.  A native of Franklin County, she is survived by brothers, Jack Davis, Ocala, Fla., Balos Davis, Crossville, Tenn., Frank Davis, Comins, Mich.; grandson, Olen Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elton Shewbart; parents, William P. Davis and Mary Dillard Davis; daughter, Mary Ann Shewbart Smith; infant daughter, Martha Jane Shewbart; and brothers, John Davis and Howard Davis.
Pallbearers will include Joey Newton, Jim Alverson, Horace Alverson,
Danny Lewis, Mike Graham and Hoyt Dillard.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville. For many  years, she was an active member of DAR Chapter in Russellville and other civic organizations. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, Ala., and a genealogist.
