Looking for anyGRAY- WRIGHT family connection in Franklin County. Note I took on visit to Franklin Co in 1960's indicated that there may be a connection. Could be that sisters of James Lewis GRAY may have married into a WRIGHT family. Sisters I have not found are Jane b. 1834, Allard b. 1837 (she may have married aSMITH) Malinda, b. 1840, Olive b. 1843, Martha b. 1847, Margaretta b. 1849. All of the sisters were b. in Georgia, were in Randolph County, Alabama in 1850. Olive, Martha & Margaretta are in Franklin co. with their mother in 1860. Yesterday while stopping for a quick break in Corinth, MS I noticed a poster advertising the 140th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh. Since many of us had ancestors who fought in this Civil War battle (Henry C. Landers fought with the 4th Alabama Cavalry, Nathaniel G. Guyton was in Company "K", 32nd Mississippi Infantry Regiment, C.S.A. and later in Company "G", 26th Mississippi Infantry Regiment, C.S.A. and indications are that Allen Willis fought with Roddey's Company, 4th Mississippi Cavalry Regiment, three of my g-g-grandfathers). I thought some of you might be interested in this information. If you ARE interested, copy and past the link below into your browser and it will take you to the Shiloh 140th Anniversary Web Site. http://www.shiloh140th.com/ Also!!! Many of you who are like me and interested in Civil War History will notice that the U.S.S. Hunley will be on display!!!!! WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE A PIECE OF HISTORY!!!!!!! Roy Hayward Huddleston Sun Mar 31 09:36:56 2002
I went to the Red Bay Baptist Church during my 6th grade while we was living in Red Bay, Franklin County, Alabama. Someone had burned down the school the preceeding year so we went to school in the church. I lived with my grandmother, Lillie Palmer, who was Lillie Huddleston after she married my grandfather-Flavus Forest Huddleston, and later her last name changed again after she married GarvinNEWELL to Lillie Newell. Flavus was born in 21 January 1903 in Booneville,Prentis,Mississippi. He married Lillie Palmer and she was born in 1904. I don't when they was married but they lived in Red Bay,Alabama. Flavus ForestHUDDLESTON died in Red Bay, Alabama in 1959 when I was two years old and I watched him die. They had 7 kids: William Henry,James Hayward(my father),Coy Lee,Florence,Susie,Cleo and Alice. I was wondering if you could check for their marriage. Also, Lillie's parents were HenryPALMER and PernecyGREEN and they lived in the house up the road which was actually a train depot turned into a house after the tracks were took up. I believe Henry worked for the railroad at one time since instead of ssn he had a railroad number.   http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~virginiahuddlestons/page1. html

I am looking for people from the DuBois family. Records indicate that four brothers came to America in the late 1600's. Most of their descendants settled in NY, but some moved into NJ and then into NC, TN, and AL. There is a possibility that one branch may have been located in SC as well. In Franklin Co. in 1830 there were May, William, James, and William (#2) Dubois. In 1840 there were Stephen, A., Mary, and Jacob I. Dubois. I believe that Stephen was related to my gr, gr-grandmother, Elizabeth Clark (married name) I have been unable to find her maiden name, but it may have been Upton or Watkins. The name "Deboys" came in a letter from my great grandfather to a relative in TN. All other names included in the letter have checked out. The Dubois family was a large one. To make matters worse, the spelling varied from DuBois to Duboise to Deboys to Debouys, to DeBow. This Stephen Dubois was 80-90 years old in 1840. In 1830 he had been located in Franklin Co., TN living near a woman we believe to be his daughter, Elizabeth Dubois Sanders (Mrs. Richard). In 1840 she is found in DeKalb Co., TN and it appears that he has moved to Franklin Co., AL. Any clues of any kind would be much appreciated.
