The Gilbert Place
George Worsham (1817-1891) & Nancy B. ALMON
(1822-1894) first lived in a home built by his father, to the
left of the Almon Cemetery on Byler Rd. In 1872 they bought
the 314 acre farm known as the "Gilbert Place",( for
$3,200) which was about 1 mile further on Byler Rd. southwest of
Moulton. This home remained in the family until after 1936,
when it was torn down. Their grandson, Thomas Franklin ALMON
(1877-1935) was the last Almon to live there. His son
Collins Denny ALMON was the last Almon born there on
March 19, 1917
