History of the Lily of the Cahaba Chapter

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution approved the organization of the Lily of the Cahaba Chapter on February 2, 2008.  The chapter, which organized with 50 members, is based in Hoover, Alabama and has members from the surrounding communities.

The Organizing Meeting and luncheon was held at Riverchase Country Club. Mrs. Herbert Douglas, Alabama Society DAR Organizing Secretary, gave the Oath of Office to the new chapter officers and the Oath of Membership to all of the Lily of the Cahaba members.

A more formal luncheon celebration was held at Hoover Country Club on May 10, 2008 with all the State Officers and local Chapter Regents invited. Hoover Mayor and Mrs. Petelos were our honored guests.

During our charter year, from February 2, 2008 to February 7, 2009, 46 more members were added for a total charter membership of 96 members.

In our first year, Mr. Eddie Aldridge of Aldridge Gardens was sponsored and won a National DAR Conservation Medal.
