MOON posted by Dale Moon on Tuesday, August 12, 1997

I am searching for information regarding my great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. The family stories go something like this. Our grandfather fled to Mexia,Tx around the turn of the century (1900) after a charge of murder had been filed against him by his father (the Sheriff). My greatngrandfathers name was Robert Elisa MOON. His father, the Sheriff, full name is unknown. I understand he was the Sheriff of Randolph Co. for 40 yrs. He owner a plantation in the county and died without an heir (his son was in Tx). The county claimed his land for the taxes. This is a family story I have heard for over thirty years. Pleas help me trace any information regarding the MOON's in Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama.

On a recent visit to Randolph County, Alabama, I encountered a cemetery 1/2 mile south of County Road 92 on Hwy 48. The cemetery was near the road, but there was no church and no sign to indicate its name. Does anyone know the name of this cemetery, and is there a listing of those buried there. Thanks in advance for any information.

BRAGG, KISSENTINER, MCCLENDON, MCLENDON, WILLIAMS posted by James M. Smith on Monday, January 26, 1998

I am searching for the following names in Randolf co. Alabama: McCLENDON/McLENDON,BRAGG,WILLIAMS and KISSENTINER. All of these relatives moved from Alabama to Cherokee co. Tx in 1870. I do not know if they had been emancipated during the 1860 Alabama census, so there is a possibilty that my gggrand father, Daniel McCLENDON and his wife Margaret were still slaves during their stay in Alabama. They would have been 17 and 16 years of age. Other McClendon researchers advised me to check this county along with Calhoun Co. I am at a standstill in my research and would appreciate any help. Thank you, James
