Searching for the parents of Eliza MCDONALD b.18 Jun 1808 in Georgia. She married William Jasper BREED on 5 Nov 1835. Arrived 1837 in Randolph County, Alabama. William Jasper was born in Warren Co., GA., the son of William BREED and Frances (Frankey) BRANTLEY (who both died in Randolph Co.-- in 1837 and 1853). William Jasper and Eliza had 8 children, including my ggrandfather, James Monroe BREED. The couple moved on to Hempstead Co., Arkansas where they died before 1895. Was Eliza the daughter of Samuel MCDONALD who died in Randolph County sometime after his wife Elizabeth who died in April, 1850? They are located in the vicinity of the Breeds in the 1850 census.

I do not want to search the entire Randolph Co. 1860 census page by page. What I would like is for some kind Soul to help me locate what part of Randolph County The plot if ground Israel bought from the Government. Sec/blk. 15/, Township 18-s, Range 10-E., Huntsville Meridian, 80.14 Acres, Randolph, County. Even just the township name would help. GOSDIN, SMITH posted by Linda Knight Hadder on Monday, November 16, 1998

SMITH - I am researching Hiram Wesley SMITH, (1861 - 1941). He married Carolyn Elizabeth GOSDIN, (1859 - 1957), in Randolph County, Alabama around 1874. They moved to nearby Blackjack Mountain, Carroll County, Georgia. They lived in Carroll County area until around 1908, when they moved to Cullman County, Alabama. I believe Hiram Wesley SMITH'S mother was named Mary ?. A grave located only a few yards from the old home place in Carroll County is marked, Mary SMITH, died May 1900. A Mary SMITH, age 40, is found in the 1870 census, Randolph County, Alabama, page 32, #232, P.O. Carter's Store. Listed is 4 children, John, age 20, Lewis, age 17, Nancy, age 15, and Hindrin? (hard to read), age 11. This SMITH family is living near the GOSDIN family. Does anyone know this Mary SMITH and could the last child be the Hiram SMITH I'm looking for? I've been told Hiram Wesley SMITH had brothers, William, John and Thomas. Two SMITH uncles were lawers and may have praticed in Carroll County. Linda Knight Hadder
