HODGES, HUGGINS, STRICKLAND posted by Raymond B. Strickland on Monday, January 3, 2000

Randolph and/or Clay Counties, Alabama My Great Grandfather's name was William STRICKLAND. Some time around 1870+/-, he married Elizabeth Stacey HODGES b-1853, d-1919). I was told by one of my father's cousins that William's family lived near Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama. I have also been told that Elizabeth Stacey HODGES' parents were William HODGES and Caroline HUGGINS HODGES and that William STRICKLAND's father came from North Carolina. The 1880 census, Rockdale Beat No. 3, has E.(Elizabeth) STRICKLAND with three sons living in Randolph County with no husband. The three sons' names are correct but dates of birth were in error. I have been told that William spent a considerable amount of time away from his wife after 1880. Occasionally he would return home and then eventually he moved to Texas. The family of William STRICKLAND: Wife= Elizabeth Stacey HODGES , born in Georgia, b-1853, d-1919, Son= John Andrew, born on June 30, 1874, died June 20, 1949 at Akron, Ohio Son= Henry, born August 15, 1875, died February 10, 1930 Son= William, born 1876+/- Daughter=Ella, born 1877+/- Son= James Robert, born 1880+/- Can anyone help me with the names of William STRICKLAND's mother and father?

LAMB, MCKEE, SIMONTON posted by Faye Simonton Bryan on Wednesday, January 12, 2000

Seeking information on family of my grandmother, Anna Elizabeth MCKEE SIMONTON who married my grandfather, Augustus "Gus" SIMONTON on 27 Dec 1877 in Chambers Co., AL. She was born 14 July 1861 somewhere in AL, died at Wichita Falls, TX on 30 Aug 1932. My Dad said she was an orphan, but said her Mother's people were named LAMB. Dad spoke of Randolph County and Wedowee often so I believe some of Grandmother's people must have been from there. Her death certificate, which I have, lists "Jim MCKEE" as her father. I would like to know who her parents, siblings, and grandparents were. Anyone with knowledge of these people, please contact me at fsbryan@altavista.net. Thank you. HODGE, TIDWELL, WESTON posted by Joan on Friday, January 14, 2000

Looking for information on the names HODGE, WESTON, pre 1840 in Randolph county, AL. I have a ggg great mother who was Elizabeth Julia HODGE WESTON. She was rumored to be the daughter of a Hugh HODGE. She married pre 1826 a ?? WESTON. SHe had a daughter pre this marriage named Lydia HODGE who married a Calvin TIDWELL. Elizabeth Julia HODGE WESTON had a son Moses Riley WESTON born in Morgain county , LA per his army records who joined the army and died in the War with Mexico in 1847. She also a daughter Nephanny WESTON and a son Jasper Newton WESTON who was born in AL in 1833. She was widowed by 1840 as I find her in Marshall county building a dam for a mill. She goes to court and summons all adjacent land owners explaining to them that it imposed no known heath hazard. It was built in the BIg Spring Valley and a bank owner from Guntersville presently owns the property and the mill is still on it. Does anyone know of this Elizabeth Julia HODGE WESTON. I think she would have been born pre 1800. Her age seems to change with every census. Thanks for any help.
