MCKEE, WINTERS posted by Gwen Mosley Turner on Tuesday, August 1, 2000

Surnames: MCKEE, WINTERS I am seeking information on Thomas Jefferson MCKEE b. 1814 SC married Dianah Winters probably in GA. In the 1850 census for Randolph Co, AL TJ is listed with his wife and seven children: Jamie 13, Alanzo 11, Melisa 9, Mary 7, Elbert 5, Timothy 2, and Titus 1. The children were born in GA and AL. Records from a son by his second wife tell us that three more children were born to them: Thomas, Carr, and Clark. TJ moved his family to Newton Co, MS before 1855 since Dianah died there and is buried in MS. TJ married second Prisella Long in Newton Co, MS and had 3 children: George, Henry and Rio. In 1864 TJ married Nancy Walker Smith and moved family to TX around 1868. TJ served in the Civil War in the 46th Regiment of Infantry of the 6th Batt. and he was a private in Co. I. His company was mustered from Newton Co, MS. Anyone who has knowledge of this family is invited to e-mail me. Thomas Jefferson has been my brick wall for some time. Thanks

HEFLIN, REAVES posted by William Fischer, Jr. on Thursday, August 24, 2000

HEFLIN, Robert Stell (b. 15 Apr 1815, GA, d. 24 Jan 1901 at/near Wedowee, Randolph County, AL), son of Wyatt HEFLIN and brother of John T. HEFLIN, both buried at Concord Cemetery. R.S. HEFLIN was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives as well as a member of the Alabama Legislature. Is said to be buried in the Masonic Cemetery but I have found not such a cemetery in Randolph County and have reviewed numerous county cemetery transcripts. Such a prominent citizen would likely have a marked gravesite -- who can tell me where it is? The grave of his wife, Mentoria REAVES HEFLIN (d. 1912) should be co-located. Thank you. William Fischer, Jr.
