BOYD, SMITH posted by Jo Ann Hopper on Sunday, October 1, 2000

Seeking information about the parents and brothers of William M. BOYD (1822-1900) who married Mary Jane SMITH in 1843. The 1860 lists them in Randolph County, post office: Rockdale. In 1870 this family is listed in Cleburne County, post office: Wehaga(?). I know that Cleburne was formed around 1866 and I don't know if this was actually a move or a redrawining of county lines. The census indicateds that William BOYD was born in SC and that Mary Jane SMITH was born in GA. They had 13 children. I do have names and dates for the children. Family tradition holds that this BOYD family came to SC in the early 1800s from Ireland. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

HOPPER, SELF -- I am seeking information about the parents and brothers of John HOPPER who married Mary SELF, daughter of Presley SELF and Amelia GUNTER, in 1821. Based on census information John HOPPER (recorded HARPER in the 1850 and 1860 Randolph census) was probably born around 1800 in either SC or GA The names and ages of the children recorded for John HARPER are the same as those of John HOPPER. John and Mary SELF HOPPER are buried in the Chulafinnee Methodist Church Cemetery in Cleburne County, AL as are a number of other family members John and Mary HOPPER had 10 children. I have their names, dates, marriage information.

SLAUGHTER, WALLS posted by Sandra Slaughter Locklear on Wednesday, October 11, 2000

Looking for any information on Lula Lundy WALLS, born Oct. 1879 and married to James Albert SLAUGHTER, born May 1876. Possibly a brother named Roma WALLS. Lula and Albert had four children, John T., Maude, Mamie, and James Lorenza. My grandmother, Lula, died from "galloping consumption" when my dad, James Lorenza was 2 or 3 years old. After much searching, I am unable to find more information. They possibly lived in Randolph and Chambers counties.

BEAN, BURDETT, FAULKNER posted by Deborah Farmer on Sunday, October 29, 2000

My great-great Grandmother Marie BEAN was born in Wedowee, Alabama on 7 February 1852. I know that her father was Wiley Jackson BEAN and her mother was Amanda FAULKNER. I am having trouble tracing Amanda FAULKNER's line. She was born in Randolf County on December 18, 1822. One source puts her parents as Wilson FAULKNER and Frances BURDETT, but their supposed birthdates (1810 and 1813) seem incompatible with Amanda's birthdate. Both are said to have died in Randolph County (Wilson in 1872 and Frances in 1897). I have no information about eithers' parents. I am hoping to find the following information: Marraige information/records for Marie BEAN. Death information/records for Amanda FAULKNER Any information with dates for Wilson FAULKNER and Frances BURDETT Since my grandmother was orphaned, tracing this information has been difficult. It was great to find this site. I'm hoping to take a trip down South with my sister this summer to visit our "roots." Thank you for any help you'll be able to provide. Deborah Farmer
