BROOKS, DUKE, MCCLENNY, PATTON, RICKARD posted by Cheryl Pittman Dedrickson on Saturday, September 21, 2002

According to her CSA Widows' Pension Application, Margaret Winnie BROOKS and Richard RICKARD were married 15 Jan 1855 in Randolph County, AL. I am seeking info on their parents/sibs. According to 1880 Stephens Co, TX, census, she was b. 1836 in GA. This date is in conflict with inscription on back of a picture of her 74th birthday taken at Eastland Camp, Eastland, TX. Picture was taken 1904; therefore, the birthdate would be 1930. Same census says father b. SC and mother b. GA. RICKARD came to US from Devonshire, England, in 1852. He served in a CSA regiment out of AL. He was, at least partially, blinded during the War. He was b. 1827-30 in England; parents both b. England. He was a farmer and Methodist minister. Family removed to TX in 1876. Their children: Augustus Romulus RICKARD b. 1853 in AL. Married Mary Lorena "Molly" MCCLENNY 5 Nov 1855. William RICKARD b. Jan 1856, d. 15 Jun 1857. Joseph A. RICKARD b. 22 Oct 1857, Ducktown, Polk, TN. D. 29 Apr 1935, Taylor, Williamson, TX. Buried Brown Cemetery; Aledo, Parker, TX. Married Georgia Ann DUKE, originally from Carroll co, GA, 6 Mar 1879 in Eastland County, TX. Occupation farmer. William J. RICKARD b. 1860 in AL. Married Sara R. "Sallie" PATTON 12 May 1897. 1920 Eastland county, TX, census, has occupation listed as merchant. Any info on BROOKS or RICKARD families much appreciated. Will share any info I have. Cheryl
