Looking for information, hopefully a marriage record for Sidonie/Sidnie KNOTT, born ca1832, possibly daughter of George and Cementha KNOTT, who migrated to Randolph Co. AL from Heard Co. GA between 1850 and 1860. Marriage is probably, but not certainly, to a RAINEY/RANEY. Would appreciate any help you might be able to give on this. Nancy Harwood Houston, TX

HOWE posted by Glenda Lohmann on Wednesday, November 12, 2003

I'm looking for information on Francis M. HOWE, born Abt. 1834 in GA. He married Susan R. [--?--]. He and Susan were listed with their family on the 1860 U.S. Census for Randolph County, AL. They were listed at House # 602, Family #602, Roanoke P O. Francis M. HOWE was age 26, Male, White, Born in GA. Susan was age 28, Female, White, Born in GA. Children listed with them were: Josephas L. HOWE, Male, age 6, born in GA Sarah F. HOWE, Female, age 5, born in GA Martha (V. or S.?) HOWE, Female, age 4, born in GA Valentine E. HOWE, Female, age 2, born in GA Mary E. HOWE, Female, age 1 month, born in AL So, they must have moved between 1858 and 1860 to AL. Francis M. HOWE was listed as a carpenter on the census. I found the name of Francis M. HOWE listed under privates on the Roster of Company I, 13th Alabama Regiment, CSA, Randolph County, AL. David R. T. HOWE was on the Roster as 2nd Corporal for the 13th Alabama Regiment, CSA. I'm trying to determine if David R. T. HOWE was related to Francis M. HOWE, since they were both in the same regiment from Randolph Co. AL, and very few HOWE families were in Randolph County at that time. Later, Josephas L. HOWE,son of Francis M. HOWE and Susan R. HOWE, shows up with a family in Chambers County, AL on the 1900 Census. Josephas/Josephus L. HOWE is my gr.grandfather. He was listed as a Librarian, with his wife, Lucy H., who was born in AL. It has taken years to finally find the names of my g.grandparents and gg.grands. All of the children of Josephas HOWE and Lucy H. were born in AL. I would appreciate any information on these family members. I would also like to know if they are buried somewhere in AL, and when they may have died.

HOWE posted by Glenda Lohmann on Saturday, November 15, 2003

Need information on Francis M. HOWE, and his wife, Susan R., and children. They were on the 1860 US Census for Randolph County, Roanoke PO, house #602, Family #602. Francis M. HOWE was listed as age 26, white, born in GA (year abt. 1834). Occupation was Carpenter. Susan R. HOWE was listed as his wife, age 28, born in GA (Abt. 1836). The children listed with them on the census were: Josephas L. HOWE, age 6, born in GA Sarah F. HOWE, age 5, born in GA Martha (F. or V., hard to read) HOWE, age 4, born in GA Valentine E. HOWE, age 2, born in GA (Census indicated Valentine is a female) Mary E. HOWE, age 1 month, born in AL. I believe that the Josephas L. HOWE listed on the census in 1860 in RAndolph County was my maternal gr. grandfather. I later found him, his wife and children, including my grandmother, in Chambers County, AL on the 1900 Census, Bethlehem PO. I've read that Francis M. (Marion) HOWE came to AL from Pike County, GA around 1857, along with two brothers. They all served in the Confederate Army, 13th and 14th Regiments from Randolph County, AL, and all three perished during the war. I would like to have more information on this, as well as any information on the surname of Susan R. HOWE, wife of Francis Marion HOWE. When did they die and where? When did Josephas L. HOWE die and where? Is my Josephas L. HOWE the son of Francis M. HOWE?
