The address above is the mailing address for the Archives, which is located in the St. Clair County Court House in Ashville (see below for address). This is where you'll want to conduct your genealogical research, as the Archives now houses the early records of St. Clair County, a growing library which includes a number of family histories, records from a local funeral home, and many other published sources of interest to those researching their St. Clair County lines. The archivist, Charlene Simpson, is wonderfully helpful. The archive itself is well organized. Hours: 8 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Saint Clair Historical Society

Now housed in the Ashville Museum and Archives, (see above for location and hours), the Historical Society publishes CHERISH: The Quarterly Journal of the St. Clair Historical Society. It is 32 or 36 pages each quarter, fully indexed, and covers both genealogy and local history. The Journal's editor, Joe Whitten, is always looking for articles on St. Clair County families. He can be reached at P.O. Box 125, Odenville, AL 35120.
