Guidelines for Confederate History Book Review
Bookreviews should be typed and single spaced with a maximum of 500 words. Your name, address and the name of your
UDC chapter should be on a separate sheet with the last sentence of your book review. Each report should include:
Name of Author
Title of book
First year published
Number of pages in book
Highlights and theme of book
Would you recommend this book and why
Do you have a desire to read the book again?
Prize for the best book review - $15.00
A selection of book reviews (perhaps all) will be published in booklet form to be distributed at the September 2005
Alabama Division Convention.

TO ORDER GRAVE MARKERS FOR CONFEDERATE VETERANS
Confederate Graves:
*U. S. GOVERNMENT-issues tombstones, no cost, and a variety of styles by submitting application VA-42_A
and a copy of official record. Form VA-42_A may be obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs,
810 Vermont Avenue N. W., Washington, D. C. 20420; at a local VA office; or their Website at www.va.org.
Use this tombstone when there is no stone (or an illegible stone) at the gravesite. Complete and accurate
proof of Confederate military service is required and shipment will be made to the cemetery for installation.
The expense of installation is the responsibility of person ordering the marker.
*IRON CROSS is fashioned on the Southern Cross of Honor, 11" x 11" with 18" stake, rough grey iron painted black.
The Cross may be ordered DIRECTLY from:Smith Brothers, Inc.P. O. Box 986Moultrie, GA 31776. Allow at least eight
weeks for delivery. Effective November 2000, the price of the Iron Cross is $58.50, including shipment. The cost
of installing the Cross is the responsibility of the person who orders it.
*BRASS CROSS is ordered directly from: Mr. Joseph Leisch, Jr., 41 Lanham Lane, Berryville, VA 22611. Cost is $65.00
without name, etc. and $70.00 if this information appears on back. There is a $5.00 delivery charge for either.
Cross is also fashioned on Southern Cross of Honor, 9.5" x 7.5", and comes available with lugs for mounting on
tombstone or with 6.5" stake for mounting in the ground.
