Historical Journal of the African American Experience in Arkansas
The Journal Editor and members of the Afro-American Historical & Genealogical
Society, Arkansas Chapter, by following its' goal to bring to light, through
research, study, collaboration, documentation and presentation, the History
and Heritage of Arkansas people of African descent has established for
the reader the AAHGS Historical Journal of the African American
Experience in Arkansas . This journal is designed for the
sole purpose of promoting and acknowledging the integral roles of African
Americans within Arkansas, the United States and abroad. To introduce individuals
that may not be familiar to many, and recognize the deeds of outstanding
groups and individuals that have left a profound impact on the development
of this nation. I sincerely hope you find the articles in this premier
issue and those to follow useful. You are invited to contribute articles
pertaining to but not limited to genealogy and family history, notable
Black Arkansans, book reviews, cemetery and church histories, missionary
and benevolent societies, mortality schedules, miscegenation, military
records, politics, fraternal orders and lodges, all black townships, and
other articles of interest, pertaining to the African American community.
