Hardie E. Poole was born September 23, 1916 at 7:00 am in Little Rock, Pulaski County, AR. His name was spelled “Hardy Estes Poole” on his birth certificate. His Grandfather's and Great Great Grandfather's name was also Hardy Poole. Hardie is the son of Fred L. Poole and Sarah Theodocia "Docie" Langston Poole of Bradley County.
Hardie was married to Mildred Louise Gorman on August 2, 1941 by S. H. Vaughn, as recorded in the Bradley County Courthouse, by Clarence Parnell in Marriage Book R, page 429, filed on the 4th day of Aug. 1941. They had one son and one daughter (living).
Hardie joined the Army on Oct. 2, 1942 and died on November 6, 1944 during World War II on Leyte Island in the Philippine Islands, and was buried there. Later his body was moved to Fort McKinley U.S. Military Cemetery in Manila, Philippine Island with full Military Honors.
