Our Current Projects

We are an adventurous group in eager search of new and exciting concepts to fill our every sleeping minute.  To keep us busy on our long sleepless nights we have arrived at a group of projects which we have highlighted below.  You can also click on the this link:  "That's Right Click Here" : for extra information we would like to bring to your attention.

New Projects:

Photographs Project  NEW

We are beginning a new group project that will allow for the sharing of historical family photographs.  A program called PicoJet is being used. Both digital copies and paper copies will be available.  There will be a small fee for the paper used.

On-going Projects:

Conway County Obituary Project

We are continuing the process of getting together data to put into a book, the obituaries (both past and present) of residents of Conway County.  Everyone is encouraged to submit obituaries to be included.

Conway County Family Genealogy Database

We are continuing to construct a county-wide genealogy database of Conway County families. Anyone who has their Conway County family lines in a computerized database is asked to create a GEDCOM file of their database and submit it to the CCGS.

Burnie Beavers Scholarship Program

In honor of a great friend and genealogist, Burnie Beavers, we have a Scholarship Program for Conway County High School Juniors.  This annual scholarship requires a High School Junior to research a genealogical or historical project.  Projects are submitted to a CCGS committee, which review the proposals and select a scholarship winner.

Conway County Cemetery Books

In 1999, we published a census of the cemeteries in our county.  Currently we offer the census in book and CD format.  There is a book for each of four areas of Conway County.  The CD contains all four books plus an overall index for all four books.  We will be publishing updates to this project periodically.  Download Index for Free. The Download file is 1.3 MB so it will take a while (~ 10 minutes on dail-up).

Arkansas River Valley Ancestor Fair

On Saturday, August 1, of 2009 we will be hosting our annual Ancestor Fair in Morrilton, Arkansas.  It is held at the Conway County Fair Grounds in the Multi-Purpose Building.  There will be vendors and genealogists for us all to mingle with.  Admittance is free to all.  Fair hours are from 9am until 3pm.
