John Powell, 79, died Friday, December 10, at his home on the Myatt road, after a long sickness. He is survived by his wife and nine children, two sisters, one brother, 63 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. He was married to Miss Nancy Dillard 56 years ago. They had eleven children, all of whom are living but two. Mr Powell joined the Church of Christ, 35 years ago and lived a devoted Christian life for the remainder of his days. He lived to see all his children baptized into the Church of Christ. He was confined to his bed for ten months but bore his sickness with patience and expressed himself as having no fear of death. Elder B. M. Lemmons conducted the funeral services.
