This cemetary is called
"Denton-Magby Cemetary Established early 1900's" the sign is posted
to a tree in the cemetary.
Directions: Take Hwy 270
(Malvern Avenue) to Acres Road turn down Acres til you get to Circle R Court on
the left (2nd street on left down acres rd.) Go to the end at the cul-de-sac.
The Cemetary is located
behind the house on the right at the end of Circle R Ct. You have to walk
between 3-4 barbed wire fences to get to it. The cemetary is fenced in with a
gate. Is is located in a cow pasture. Owners said the property used to be owned
by a Ms. Magby.
The cemetary is fairly
large for a family cemetary most of the graves just have fieldstones and pipes
for their headstones. The others are:
Magby, Samuel L. 1860-1933
(dbl with wife Mary Jane)
Magby, Mary Jane 1867-1939
(tombstone says At Rest)
located to the left
of Samuel and Jane Magby is:
Magby, Zula June June 9, 1933
April 27, 1935
located on the other end
of the cemetary next to the fence line is:
Parker, Mable May 2, 1909
Oct 17, 1909 (also has a
Gross Mortuary marker next to it)
Parker, Dickie Oct 23, 1906
Oct 23, 1906 (also has
a Gross Mortuary marker nest to it)
There is one grave
directly above the Parker children with just a Funeral marker, no names or
dates. All other graves are unmarked. Possibly Denton family and more Magbys
buried there. Someone still tends to the unmarked graves because there are
flowers on them.
:NOTES FROM OTHERS:
Anthony Rushing - Feb
26, 2004 Some additional info. This may be the son of Silas Mance
Magby. IN 1860 he lived in the vicinity
of the Hot Springs/Saline Co line. He
enlisted in Co F 3rd Ark Cav which was called the Hot Springs Cav
(nickname). There was also a James
Magby in this unit. However, Silas
Mance (Uncle Mance) Magby is buried in the Bryant Cemetery. Since the family is listed in 1900 Bryant
township this would possibly show they were living there to assist the elder
Magby.

Eddie Landreth - Feb 26, 2004 The Samuel
and Mary Magby from Bryant are my G-G-G-grandparents. Their daughter, Casander ("Cassie"), was my
G-G-Grandmother. My records show that
the Samuel L. Magby is the son of the Samuel and Mary Magby of Bryant. Samuel L.'s wife was Mary J. Denton. My records on "Uncle Mance" as he
was know in the family, is that he married Lou Hill and they had one daughter,
Ruth.

Anthony Rushing - Feb 26, 2004 Thanks for
the clarification. I was shooting from
the hip so to speak. I guess that
means that Mr. Seibert Magby is not a descendant of Silas Mance and must be
from Samuel. Are they all related?
Silas, Samuel and James.

Eddie Landreth - Feb 26, 2004 I think the James Magby you're referring
to is Samuel Magby's brother, and he was Mance's and Samuel L.'s uncle. James M. Magby was born in 1834, so would
have been about 27 at the outbreak of the war.
