1st Arkansas Cavalry (US)

The First Arkansas Cavalry was organized at Cassville and Springfield, Missouri in June of 1862 and was mustered in at Springfield on August 7, 1862. The 1st Arkansas Cavalry served in the Department of Missouri from August 1862 to June 1864 and Department of Arkansas from June 1864 to August 1865. The unit was part of the Army of South West Missouri from June 1862 to October 1862 and part of the Army of the Frontier from October 1862 to December 1862. From June 1863 to June 1864 the 1st AR CAV was part of the district of South West Missouri but were unattached from any division. From June 1864 to August 1865 the 1st AR CAV was part of the Department of Arkansas.
