Added the Killgore Township 1880 Mortality Schedule, and updated the index with those names.

More townships added to the 1880 Census and the index updated to reflect those names. The links are on the Census page.
Also added some Marriages from the Eastern District.
Joseph Dyal has submitted a wonderful photograph of some fine-looking young men from the Palatka community. It's on the Photographs page. New photos are always at the top.

Added the 1880 Mortality Schedules for Haywood & Johnson Townships to the Census page.
Also added a Records page that tells what Clay County records are available and where and how to obtain them.

The Census page is up and two townships of the 1880 Mortality Schedule (Carpenter & Chalk Bluff) have been transcribed and posted, along with an Index. Volunteers are needed to transcribe census records, so if you can help, start transcribing and e-mail me and I'll post them for you.

Added a partial transcription of the Will of Charles Stokes, and a list of miscellaneous wills on file at both courthouses to the Wills page.
Also added the Family Group Sheet for the William Henry Stokes family.

Who was voted Most Good-Looking at Corning High School in 1952? Who were the Second Grade Teachers at Corning Primary? Thanks to contributor Mark Frazier you can find out! He's submitted the index to the 1952 edition of "The Bobcat", Corning's yearbook. It's a treasure trove! Plus, he's offered to scan photos! Find out more on the Schools page.
Also added quite a few surnames to the Surname page.
And then added the Dedication and the Foreword to Robert Webb's 1933 book History & Traditions of Clay County

Who shod Jesse & Frank James' horses every time they rode through Pollard? Who was the only mid-wife between Chalk Bluff and Gainsville, and how much did she charge? Why did Ed Caldwell have his mail delivered to Greenway? Enjoy looking over some Miscellaneous Bits & Pieces transcribed from History & Traditions of Clay County. These are some of the most interesting things I've ever seen about Clay County!
Added some more Old Newspaper Clippings submitted by Rita DonCarlos. These are such a wonderful look back at the way things were in Clay County! I've also typed out a transcription of each clipping so the search engine will be able to pick up the surnames.
Speaking of surnames, added several more to Surnames page, so go see if someone else is researching your Clay County line.

Added the histories of people with surnames beginning with the letter "J" from Some People of Clay County.
Added a new section of Old Newspaper Clippings. Rita Hicks DonCarlos has sent in some wonderful scans of the original clippings with photos. So far I only have one posted, for Uncle Dan Lemons, and the rest are coming ASAP.

There's a place on the Home page where you can sign up to receive an e-mail notification whenever the site is updated. The service is free and it doesn't send out spam or a bunch of useless stuff you don't want. Just enter your e-mail address and it's done. Completed surnames through the letter "G" in Some People of Clay County. Surnames through "E" are now posted from History & Traditions of Clay County. Began adding "Some People of Clay County" from History & Traditions of Clay County, Robert Webb's 1933 book. Finished surnames A & B; working on the rest. New photos of the old Lowrance Cemetery part of Piggott Cemetery, including general photos and graves for Caroline???, Elizabeth????, a McNiel, Wilder, Williams and Phillips. Also, three new cemetery listings are up: Woodland Heights in Rector, Redenbo (located east of Corning) and Corning Cemetery in Corning. Links are on the Cemeteries page. Began adding excerpts from the 1933 book, "History & Traditions of Clay County" by Robert T. Webb. Started with his list of early pioneers 1830s-1880s and his very interesting write-up of Dr. James Rouse. Added info for MAPLEs buried at Pirtle Cemetery. Added a photo of the Pirtle Cemetery submitted by Pamela Gorton. The link is on the Cemeteries page. Added the Churches page with a 1938 photo of members of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Added the Old Schools page and the Links page. Added the Photo page and two photographs. Added the Biographies page with the Goodspeed Biographical sketches. Created the website, including home page, cemetery page, marriage page, photo page, and what's new page.
Surnames through "I" are now up in Some People of Clay County.
