JEFFERSON COUNTY TOWNSHIP BOUNDRIES

Jefferson county was formed 2 Nov 1829 from the counties of Arkansas and Pulaski. It was later the parent county of Grant county in 1869, Lincoln Co. in 1871 and Dorsey (Cleveland Co.) in 1873.

by 1840 - Vaugine, Richland, Bartholomew, and Bolivar

by 1850 - same four as above plus; Darysaw (Derriseaux), Plum Bayou, Talladage, White Oak, and Hoodsville (debatable, probably a town).

by 1860 - Barraque (went to Grant Co. in 1869), Bartholomew, Bogy, Bolivar, Darysaw (Derriseaux, went to Grant Co. in 1869), Dudley Lake, Plum Bayou, Richland, Simpson (went to Grant Co. in 1869), Talladega, Vaughn (Vaugine), Washington(went to Grant Co. in 1869), White Oak, and Whiteville.

by 1870 - Banyon (Barraque), Bartholomew (went to Lincoln Co. in 1871), Bogy, Bolivar, Dudley Lake, Melton, Plum Bayou, Richland, Spring, Talladega, Vaughn (Vaugine), Victoria, Washington(part went to Grant Co. in 1869), White Oak, and Whiteville.
