Oct1878 in Blythville Ar. Also John Henry JAMES born 1885 in
Blythville. They were children of John Lecurgis JAMES & Amanda
Franklin PRYOR.
My father, Harry L. CRAWFORD was born in
Blytheville on June 12, 1919. His parents were Lovester Crawford
and Grace HILL. They moved to California around the start of
wwii. I never knew any of them and I'm lookin for all the
information I can gather. Harry died in 1963 his parents were
alive as late as 1965. In 1938 they lived at Route 2, Box 10 and
Harry worked at Dunlop's at 206&208 west Main in Blytheville.
I am researching the descendants and
ancestors of Francis Marion BLYTHE, my maternal
great-grandfather. Family tradition suggests that this Blythe
line came from Virginia. I would appreciate any guidance and
help. This is Blythe posting version 1/13/98. Washington County,
Texas, 1860 Census information and a family Bible indicate that
Francis M. was born in Tennessee on 14 May 1821 and married
Virginia Lockhart HARRISON in Pulaski County, Arkansas on 12
April 1842. Virginia L. was born in Alabama May 16, 1823.
Francis and Virginia's children who have been identified were:
Cynthia Almajoria, born in Arkansas 5 May 1843; Frances Carrol,
born in Texas 5 November 1846; Mary Virginia, born in Texas 14
September 1854; [?] Harrison, born in Texas 25 April 1856; Jo
Ann, born in Texas in 1857; my maternal grandmother Sadie
"Sallie" Ophelia, born in Texas 15 July 1857; Martha Emilene
born in Texas 15 February 1860 and died 23 May 1860. All of the
above names except Martha E. were listed on the Washington
County, Texas 1860 Census. A penciled note in the family Bible
reads, " Arrived Washington [on-the- Brazos, Texas] 1845." It is
possible that this refers to the arrival of Francis Marion and
family. A 12 year old male (b: 1848) and a 7 year old female (b:
1843) are also listed as being in the Blythe household on the
1860 Census and as having the Blythe surname. There are no
corresponding entries in the Bible for the illegible given
names. Virginia L. died 24 April 1861. She is probably buried in
Washington County, Texas. Francis M. BLYTHE married V. E.
WALTHALL 31 December 1861. They are listed on the 1870 Census.
Andrew Jackson Blythe, born in Texas 24 February 1866, is listed
in the family Bible but has not been identified on the 1860
Census. Andrew J. is probably a child of Francis Marion and V.
E. Walthall. The 1870 Washington County, Texas, Census lists
only initials for given names. Initials are hard to read.
Francis M. died 12 April 1878 per the family Bible. Burial
locations for the Blythe line are believed to be in Washington
County. Some death dates must be verified. Sadie "Sallie" O.
Blythe married Daniel Wilson CLINE in Brenham, Washington
County, Texas 20 January 1885. Maud Marie Cline, one of their
children, and my mother, married William H. LOHMAN in Dallas,
Texas. William was born in Kansas City, MO in 1891 and baptized
Wilhelm Heinrich LOHMANN in St. Peters Deutsch Evangeliche
Kirche, Kansas City, MO in 1895. Other descendant surnames
acquired by marriage are: J. B. SMALLEY married Jo Ann Blythe;
EDWARDS to Mary Virginia Blythe. These surnames were acquired by
marriage into the Cline / Lohman line. STEVENSON, SHANKS, HALL,
ENGLES, STRAWN, MULKEY, CASPARY, ESTES, CAREY. Other postings
relating to this Blythe line have been made using the surnames
LOHMANN and CLINE. If you have any questions or information
please contact John Lohman in San Antonio, Texas. Thanks to all
for the help. jlohman@txdirect.net

I'm trying to locate information in
order to get a delayed birth certificate for my mother, Alice
Susan SKELTON, who wants a passport so she can visit Europe. She
thinks she was born, July 16, 1923, near Wilson, Mississippi
County, AR. She was told that a doctor attended her birth and
registered it. However, Vital Statistics in Little Rock can't
find it for her now. Her parents were Walter Charles SKELTON and
Lilly Mae LAWYER. Mother thinks the family may have been there
only a few years, possibly renting a farm or sharecropping. They
came from Fulton Co. AR and moved on to IL. by 1926. We would
appreciate any help regarding Mississippi County. Perhaps
information regarding the country doctors of that time period,
birth records which may have been kept locally or any clue which
would help us locate some clue to her birth. I am not a
genealogist, so I apologize if this isn't the proper forum for
my request.

Alice Susan Skelton) birth. July 18, 1923. She believes that she
was born in Mississippi County near the town of Wilson, while
her parents Walter Charles Skelton and Lilly Mae LAWYER were
farming or sharecropping rice.. Vital Statistics in Little Rock
has failed to locate any record of her birth. Would some one
please respond with research ideas? Was there a newspaper in the

the river in Tennessee? Are there any county histories regarding
local doctors of that time period. My mother wants to get a

church supports. She entered the Medicare/Social Security System
on my father's coattails, so she has never had to prove her

My father is William Bard Edrington
of Osceola, now living in FL. My grandmother, Mabel Edrington,
wrote a book about Mississippi County in '61 and covered the
Edrington line pretty well. She was a Flanigan, I haven't found
much there. I'm also stuck on my mother's side of the family.
Her father was Rutherford Snow Wilson, I've done fairly well
there, but her mother was Nancy Williams, I'm really stuck
there. That line is John Landrum Williams. My great grand mother
was Sallie Blackwood. All from Osceola. I would appreciate any
help anyone has. Thanks, Sally Boyd
I am trying to find
information on my g-g-grandmother. She was a full-blooded
Blackfoot Indian. I am told her married name was Bessie ASHLEY,
and she was married to a white man. I do not know his given name
or her Indian name. She had a daughter named Bessie Ida ASHLEY,
who married Peter Frank GREEN. They had 7 children. Peter Frank
GREEN, Jr., Wilburn GREEN, Harrison GREEN, Jewell Izetta GREEN,
Edna GREEN, Jerlene GREEN, and Velma GREEN. Peter Frank had a
brother named Garland GREEN. Jewell Izetta GREEN was born
11-26-1910, she was the oldest of the children. I am assuming
that her mother would have been born in the late 1800's, and
then her mother would have been born before that. Edna married
Johnny WAGNER, Jerlene married Linwood JONES and Jewell Izetta
married John B. TURNER. I am told that my g-g-grandmother's
husband died before their grandchildren were born, and she lived
on the reservation until she died. I am also told she lived to
be 108 years old and that she was very well know on the
reservation. Most of the people I have named lived in
Leachville, Ar., Mississippi Co. when I was a child in the
1950's and early 1960's. My Aunt says she can remember going to
see g-g-grandmother ASHLEY on the reservation. She said they
went in a buggy and it would take the whole day to get there
from Leachville. I would really love to know what the name of
this reservation was, and where it was. Edna and John Wagner had
5 children. Johnny, Jean, Shirley, Susie and Ben. They all lived
in Leachville when I was a child. I knew them well as a child,
but have lost contact with them. I also know that Jean had a
daughter named Darlene. She would probably be in her middle to
late thirties by now.

I am looking for anyonce who may
have documentation (or know where to find it) for a Death
Certificate of a Sarah Ann Woolverton. She was the wife of
Zacharaiah Taylor Woolverton. He was a minister hwo was
preaching in/near Blytheville, Arkansas at the time of her
death. She is supposed to have dies on or about 1912 and was
buried where the Blytheville Air Force Base was built. Word is
that the Air Force moved the headstones in the cemetery (name
unknown) and when they put them in the new location, the record
of who was in what grave was lost and some of the headstones
were never put back. I do not know if church records exist for
that timeframe, but would like to hear from anyone with any
knowledge or interest in this issue.
Trying to find any info about MARDON and
CLAY families that were in Osceola, Mississippi Co. in 1900
census. Thomas Mardon (age 22, TN) and his wife Ida Clay (age
21, KY) were newlyweds. Ida's widowed mother Angie Clay (age 49,
MS) and many of Ida's brothers & sisters were also in the
household. Angie was the widow of William H. Clay (b c 1842,
MS). Wm & Angie had moved from MS to Fulton Co., KY by 1870 &
were there in 1880. We don't know if Wm died in KY or AR, or why
the family moved to Mississippi Co., or where they were in 1910.
