About Us

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society was organized in September 1976 by Ms. Inez Cline and others. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to the assimilation and preservation of historical and genealogical documents. It boasts a reference library of well over a thousand volumes, as well as historical journals, microfilm, and microfiche (see library inventory). Dues are $20.00 per year, and that includes membership for husband and wife. These dues entitle a member to receive the annual periodical as well as checking out four books for a two-week period per member family.  Unfortunately, we are unable to mail books to be checked out.  They must be checked out at the library in person and brought back in person.

The Melting Pot is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This means that any donation, both large and small, is tax deductible. This could include books, needed items or cash donations.

The Melting Pot library is connected to the internet!!  You may use the library computer or bring your wireless notebook computer to the library and log on.

2010 Memberships

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society is accepting membership dues for 2010. For information about membership, either contact the Melting Pot Genealogical Society by telephone or email. All members should complete a new membership questionnaire and submit a pedigree chart if you have not already.

2010 Board Members

The Melting Pot still needs a recording secretary for 2010. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please contact President Margie Hill.

Calendar of Events

Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events page. If you have a family, school, church, community reunion and would like us to add it, please let the webmaster know. We can also post cemetery cleanup days. (This would include Garland County or any county that borders it.)

Help Us

We need your feedback on what things you would like included in this website. Please email us with your suggestions. If you have surveyed a cemetery (or think you would like to) that is not listed on our site, please email us so that we can put it online.

Your Family Histories

We would like to include your family histories in our library: either in book form, descendant's reports, pedigree charts. We would also like any family photographs that you would like us to archive at the library.

How to Contact Us

We welcome comments and/or corrections via e-mail. If you live in the Hot Springs area (or are visiting), we invite you to visit our library and to, hopefully, decide to join our fast-growing association. Our periodicals are full of interesting and helpful information. If you wish to contact us via mail, please be sure to use our post office box!

Library Hours

The Melting Pot Library is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each Monday and Friday and the second  Saturday of each month. Monthly meetings are every fourth Tuesday at the MPGS library at 1:30 p.m. from September through May. A "Calendar of Events" is posted showing the scheduled times and program for the monthly meetings. The public is invited to all meetings. If you are having trouble finding us, here is a link to a map and directions.

Melting Pot Logo

The Melting Pot logo was designed by Douglas Eddie Rice of Rock House Design Studio in Royal, Arkansas.

Officer News

We are beginning to add pages for the Melting Pot Officers to let us know about new and exciting new "happenings" in MPGS.

Email Addresses

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society has changed its email address, so please make note of it.  It may be found at the top of the page.  There is an email address for the society itself and one for the webmaster.  The webmaster's address should be used to send in photographs or to correct an entry.  The society's address should be used to request any information from the society.

What's New

Be sure to check our "What's New" page to see what is going on.  You may even wish to sign up on our website monitoring to get an email when something changes.
