509. Bible Record -- Mrs. Dorothie Waters WILLIAMS has
contributed an old family Bible record which a friend
found at a garage sale. The Bible was printed in New
York, 1858, no publisher's name given. Someone had found
the Bible in an attic near Marshall, Texas. Some names
were so faded that they were hard to read. Here is her
transcription. James HUGHES and Mary Elizabeth HUGHES was
married November 25, 1843 James H. HICKS and Murthey
Susan HUGHES was married November 14, 1869 Henry J.
HUGHES and Lidie HICKS was married Feb. 23, 1871 Robert

- Am looking for cousins who has information on the SPURLIN
and/or MCGHEE families in a family Bible, that lived in
Camden in the 1980's. Any information would be greatly
appreciated.

- Researching the family of merchant Peter McCOLLUM
(1804-1871). Peter arrived in Camden about 1844. He built
the MCCOLLUM-CHIDESTER House in 1847. He married twice
after arriving in Camden; first to Augusta ROUNSAVILLE
(?-1847), they were the parents of one son. Later, he
married Nancy FELLOWES (1801-1880). Peter was born in
North Carolina, he is buried in Oakland Cemetery in

- Researching John DALY (or DAILEY) of Camden (Ouachita
County), Arkansas. He was killed at the Battle of Corinth
(Mississippi), in 1862, while commanding the 18th
Arkansas Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was
listed in Camden on the 1860 census as a 29-year old
lawyer, born in Tennessee. He married Mary Ann McCOLLUM
(1838-1897) of Camden; they were the parents of one son,
Richard Hugh (1862-1900). The son's last name is spelled
DALY on the cemetery records.

- Researching Nancy FELLOWS (or FELLOWES), the fourth wife
of Peter McCOLLUM of Camden (Ouachita County), Arkansas.
She was born in New York in 1801 and came to Camden with
some other members of her family. She married Peter about
1860. she died in 1880. Please contact Kinloch McCollum

- Researching John Bernard McCAUGHEY (1859-1944). He was
born in Ireland but was brought to Camden (Ouachita
County), Arkansas, by his parents, James and Ellen
MCCAUGHEY. John married Elizabeth STINSON in 1885 and
they were the parents of two children: Ellen (married
Harvey Thomas HARRISON, a Little Rock lawyer, in 1911)
and George Stinson MCCAUGHEY (1889-1900).

in Camden (Ouachita County), Arkansas. He and his wife,
Mary STINSON (1864-1914), were the parents of three
children: Annie Chester WATTS (married Walter CASEY);
Walter Stinson WATTS, an architect in Little Rock; and
Virgina McCollum WATTS (never married). Please contact

- Searching for any information regarding William A. FOSTER
of McNairy, Tn., listed there on the 1860 census. He was
married to Margret Elizabeth SMITH who moved to Ouachita
Co, after his death in the Civil War. Their children were
Joel Henry FOSTER, b. 1859 and Mary(Mollie) DAVIS, b.
1861. Margret later married William JENKINS in 1866 and
William HARDY in 1881. Was DAVIS a family name? Joel
Henry married Clonia LUSBY of Ouachita. Any help
appreciated.

1850 in Ouachita Co. Buried in Camden area. He appeared
in the 1840 census of Talladega Co. AL. Any information

- Need information about James L RICHARDSON and his wife
Letitia BROUGHTON who married in Walton Co. Ga in 1858.
They are both buried there in Camden, Ouachita Co.
Arkansas JAMES L RICHARDSON died in 1889. Letitia
Broughton RICHARDSON died in 1879. Their daughter Louella
married James BUCHANAN BLACK, SR. They married in
Ouachita Co Ark in 1883. James Buchanan BLACK and Louella
moved to Delta Co Texas. Thank you again for your help.

- I am researching my gggfather, Van Buren MARTIN grandson
of Sen. Nathaniel MACON of Warren Co. N.C. Land Records
indicate that V..B. MARTIN purchased a tract of land in
Camden in Ouachita Co. Ark.around 1866. V. B MARTIN was
married to Josephine REDFORD of Memphis, Tenn. They were
in the Shelby Co. Tenn. 1850 census but then disappear.
Does anyone have any information concerning them?

- I would like to order a book(s) called OUACHITA COUNTY
HISTORICAL QUARTERLY, starting with the June, 1980 issue
(Vol. 11, Number 4), entitled THE DESCENDANTS OF JAMES
WILSON FROM ENGLAND TO THE ARK-LA-TEX by Mary Wimmer
Daniel. I have some excerpts, but would like the entirity
of the information. Can you tell me how to purchase this?
I am a WILSON and my direct lineage is in there, but
there may be other things that I would like to know. Most
of the Wilsons in that line (and my relatives) are
actually from Columbia County, but somehow this
information ended up in a Ouachita County book.

Eunice (BERNARD) PELT and her daughter Paulene
("Patsy") PELT. Jessica was married to Nolan
PELT of Eagle Mills, Arkansas in the early 1920s. Jessica
was my great-grandmother, and was originally from
Cananda. I would like to find out dates of birth,
marriage, and death, along with any other infomation

- I am researching INGRAM family. John went there from
Illinois with wife Eliza (maiden name unknown). Son James
born in Oct 1838 in Ouachita county, m Louisa (maiden
name unknown). Daughter Elizabeth born 14 Jan 1863, m
John Christensen and moved to Oregon. I have info to
share and would appreciate any that you have on these
ancestors.
