CHRISTOPHER, NEAL, YOUNG posted by Nancy Skaggs on Thursday, May 1, 1997

I am looking for information on the Robert and Eliza NEAL CHRISTOPHER family. They migrated from Lunengurg county Virginia to Lowdnes County Alabama prior to 1830. In 1844 they migrated to Nevada county Arkansas and settled 28 miles south of Prescott. Robert and Eliza had 13 children; Edward R., James Neal, George M.T., Cornelia, Frances, Eliza A, Melissa T., Virginia A., Amanda, Mary R., Richard, Florence and Edgar. Robert is listed in the 1850 census of Ouachita County in Jefferson Township. In the 1860 census he is listed in Jackson Township Ouachita County. In the 1870 census, he is listed in Ouachita County , Jefferson Township Woodlawn Post Office-date of census, 1 Aug 1870 and on 25Aug1870 he is listed in Jackson Township, Caney Post Office. George CHRISTOPHER moved to Texas about 1854 and stayed until 1861 when he joined Wall's Legion. He served as Sgt Major until the end of the war. He then returned to Prescott, Ar and married his first wife, Lucinda O. YOUNG in 1871 and they had seven children. After Lucinda's death, George married again. His second wife was Miss J. E. YOUNG and they had two children. George was a JP and held other offices. I would appreciate any information. Robert CHRISTOPHER was a brother of my great great great grandfather, William CHRISTOPHER.

ANTHONY, HINTON, MASON, RHEA, SULLIVENT posted by Larry Anthony on Tuesday, May 6, 1997

Adison ANTHONY appeared on the 1850 Ouachita Co. census. He indicated birth in Va about 1829. He married Esther MASON born in Yalobusha Co., Ms in 1835. Esther's father Philip MASON died in Ms. in 1839. Esther's mother was Nancy RHEA MASON and she married Elkanah SULLIVENT about 1841 and they moved to Locust Bayou about 1844. Adison was listed on the census with this family in 1850 as well as with the James HINTON family of Camden. I am trying to find out who Adison was and where he came from to Ark. He has no civil war record. He died in 1879. Family tale that he killed a man and his father provided fast horse for escape. Also in Camden there was a Palina ANTHONY. She was a widow with a three year old child. I wondered if she could have been a sister-in-law to Adison? Not likely that two Anthonys could be living in Camden and not be related!
