- ANTHONY, HINTON, MASON, RHEA,
SULLIVENT posted by Larry Anthony on Tuesday, May 6,
- Adison ANTHONY appeared on the 1850 Ouachita Co. census.
He indicated birth in Va about 1829. He married Esther
MASON born in Yalobusha Co., Ms in 1835. Esther's father
Philip MASON died in Ms. in 1839. Esther's mother was
Nancy RHEA MASON and she married Elkanah SULLIVENT about
1841 and they moved to Locust Bayou about 1844. Adison
was listed on the census with this family in 1850 as well
as with the James HINTON family of Camden. I am trying to
find out who Adison was and where he came from to Ark. He
has no civil war record. He died in 1879. Family tale
that he killed a man and his father provided fast horse
for escape. Also in Camden there was a Palina ANTHONY.
She was a widow with a three year old child. I wondered
if she could have been a sister-in-law to Adison? Not
likely that two Anthonys could be living in Camden and
not be related!
