Seeking any information concerning James ORMAN, Sr., his ancestors or descendants. James ORMAN, Sr. was born about 1814 in North Carolina (possibly Montgomery County) and moved with his parents to Posey County, Indiana by 1830. He married Susanna (sometimes called "Susan") ANDERSON in Posey County in 1834. Susanna was also a native of North Carolina. James and Susanna ANDERSON moved to Phillips County, Arkansas about 1858. In the 1860 Census, they are living in Marion Township with children William, James, John, George, and Caroline ORMAN. Also living with James and Susanna was a married daughter, Sarah (ORMAN) MORRIS, her husband Francis Marion MORRIS, and their son William MORRIS. Family tradition is that James ORMAN, Sr. was incarcerated by the Union Army during the Civil War. John ORMAN, George ORMAN, and Sarah (ORMAN) MORRIS (with two children) return to Posey County, Indiana before 1870.
