DENTON posted by Susan Newton on Thursday, August 3, 2000: I found a reference on Ancestry.com to a W. B. DENTON who was a partner in the firm of Rainey, Denton and Neal in Helena. W.B. would have been born abt.1866, so I am assuming that this firm would have been in business around the turn of the century. I have an ancestor (a very elusive one) of the same name. Please tell me what you can about W. B. DENTON. Thank You.

STERLING posted by Sue McCluskey Foster on Monday, August 7, 2000: I am searching for information on the town of STERLING, AR. located in Phillips county. I have only a vague reference to it's existance, evidently it was washed away in one of the floods. I believe the town was there during the Civil War, possibly until the 1920's. I would appreciate any info on the subject.

MCCROY, SPANN posted by Patrick Vaughn on Sunday, August 13, 2000: I am interested in looking for the surname SPANN. My great grandparents lived in Helena in the 1920's. My great grandfathers name was R.L. SPANN. "R" believed to be Robert. My great grandmother's name was Lucille (MCCROY) SPANN. They lived on Ohio St. in Helena. My great grandmother died around 1928, and is presumed to be burried there in Helena. At that time her daughter, my grandmother, was taken to an orphanage in Little Rock. I would appreciate any info you can give me on any documents that still exist reguarding my family. I am from Heber Springs, AR. I currently live in Fairhope, AL. John KEY born abt. 1831, (city unknown) Arkansas - died 1898, Midlothian, Texas. Martha born about 1837, Warren County, Mississippi - died San Jose, California 1912. Martha's first husband was Winston S. COATES. Winston and Martha were married 6-22-1852, Helena. AR. Winston died abt. 1862. Martha remarried John KEY 1864 Gatesville, TX. children: Lucia GAINES KEY (married Robert A. CAMPBELL Helena, AR. 1882). son Jack KEY (married Henrietta GASSNER 4-4-1899, Gilroy, California). Robert A. CAMPBELL, born abt. 1852, Kentucky. Father may have been James CAMPBELL. Robert married Lucia Gaines KEY in 1882, Helena, Ark. Moved to Hamilton, Texas 1882.

His parents were Robert LUCROY and Mary MOORE. I know nothing more about them. John Robert LUCROY married Blanche Mildred ELLIS in 1919 or 1920 Phillips County or St. Francis County, AR.
