Hello, I'm looking for information about a steamboat that capsized after leaving Helena on April 27, 1908. The steamboat was a 65 ton ship called the 'Marian' piloted by W.A. JOYCE of Newport. She capsized during a storm eight miles above the mouth of the St. Francis River. I am very interested in finding some information about one of the crew that drowned during this disaster. His name was William BERRY and from the article I have on this, he was the engineer of the 'Marion' and was from Newport, Ark. Jackson Co, in Newport says they do not have an obit on this man. Where would I find something about him that would name his family members? Thanks, Barbara

Searching for information on or researchers of the ALMER name in the Phillips Co., Arkansas area. Ulrich ALMER, b. 1835, married to Karoline KRAMER, b. 1846, was a dairy farmer in Helena area. Children were William b. 1870, Charlie b. 1877, Susie b. 1880, Carry b. 1886, Grace b. 1892. It does not appear the either of the sons had children in their marriages. It does appear that at least one of the daughters married, but the husband's name is unknown. Ulrich and Karoline appear to have been married in Clinton, Iowa, then moved south into Missouri. From there they moved into Arkansas, where they settled in Phillips County. Any help or further information greatly appreciated. Dick Schack

I have been working on my ancestry and the ancestry of my children. Their father's family were DENISON'S and lived in Phillips County. All I know about them is their g-grandfather was Robert DENISON (married a Della LANEHART) and I believe Robert had a brother named Joseph. Does anyone know anyone about this family?
