My husband's family came from Turner. His grandparents, Roy and Mattie (HILL) LANGSTON moved to Illinois about 65 years ago. Would appreciate any information about these families. Also, what happened to the Mayo church and cemetery?

MELLWOOD - I'm tracing the family MELLWOOD and believe Mellwood, Phillips Co, AR was probably named after a landowner MELLWOOD. Does anyone know the background to the name of the village, full name of originator, and any dates, marriages, descendants, moves related to that person? Thanks for your help. I found a Mellwood Thomas HAMILTON, son of Mary Magdaline CLAY, and grandson of Thomas CLAY in Houston, TX. I don't Thomas' wife's name, but think the MELLWOOD connection may be on her side.

I'm searching for information about my grandfather......Charles Edward LEE. .This is the only information I have....he ran away from home at 13 from I believe Lexa or somewhere in Phillips county ......he ended up in tennessee and refused to ever tell any of his children about anything about his past........he passed in 1957 and when my aunt (his oldest daughter) passed away a few years ago she was in possession of some letters that was written to Papa Charlie from William Stewart in Lexa Arkansas...he was identified from the letter as an uncle..this was in 1920's.......he brings up the fact that he was missed and was glad to know he was alright.....which makes me thinks that grandpa had written home........the only thing on his death certificate is his mothers name was Aleatha STEWART...... no father's name was given......and the story goes he ran away from home because his mother died in childbirth (sometime around 1890 we think) and he was left to a horrid stepfather from his description.....we understand there was a second son also but he was given up for adoption......we believe his name was Andrew BUSHHART at the time.....though that may have been changed........we do not if Papa Charlie's mother was married and if so to who.......as his name was LEE and she was listed as STEWART always.......i have been searching for years trying to find the elusive Aleatha but with no avail.......its as if she never existed.......nor his father either........would appreciate any information that would take me back into Papa's life.....i can bring the family forward from 1900 but before that it is a blur.......thank you.....h adams

Am looking for a Noble WHITE who married Willia MCCONNELL. Noble deserted Willia and she could not take care of the children and placed them in an orphanage/poor house. She later married a STEINBECK. She is buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Helena. Does any one know who to contact to look at orphanage/poor house records? Or the names of any of those institutions in Helena in the early 1900's? I know my grandmother had at least two sisters placed with her. One sister was too young and stayed with Willia. One brother was too old and did not go into either place. My greatgrandmother had a photo of the three girls wearing a uniform of some kind. It was on the wall of her room when she died but I think my grandmother took it and threw it away as she didn't want any of her children to know that she was raised in an orphanage. She left the orphanage when she was 16 and got married.
