Pine
tree |
|
This representation
above is not exact, but will give you a good idea of how the graves are
placed. The gate is at the NW corner on the north side. All the stumps were once cedar
trees. The pine tree is a young tree
only recently planted. Many of the tombstones will soon be
unreadable as they appear to have been formed from concrete. Some of
the corners, edges and even some of the characters or parts of them have
been chipped off or worn away. If something isn’t done soon, this
cemetery will be for the most part lost except for only the most recent
stones. Submitted by Linda
Hollman.

Jan 1933 NOTE: I am saddened to learn from my uncle Earl Thomas,
long time caretaker of the Thomas Cemetery, that there are no known
written records on the Thomas Cemetery. Records have been accumulated by
individuals only and there is no common depository of information. I would
like to start a collection of data by contributing what I have. I am a
Thomas, grandaughter of Claiborne Jackson Thomas. If you have a record of
individuals buried in this cemetery and they are not listed above, please
contact me. Submitted by Gava
