DR. J. W. C. HINKLE  Dr. J. W. C. Hinkle was born in Tennessee, July 18th, 1848, and died in Mountain View July 24th, 1929, aged 81 years and 6 days.

Dr. Hinkle came to Stone county when quite a young man and entered upon the practice of medicine and for about 47 years, through heat and cold, rain or shine, he rode the primitive roads to relieve suffering wherever found, regardless of whether his patients were able to pay or not.  His was more a mission of mercy than to make money, and to the poor especially, he was the guardian angel.   It can be said of him that he never missed a call when it was in his power to make it.

He lived close to nature and to nature's God and his character was gauged by the highest of moral standards.

Of late years he tried to be relieved of the practice of medicine, but many who had enjoyed his professional services for a lifetime were always calling on him, and he cheerfully responded to the limit of his physical ability, going often when he should have stayed at home.

In his passing, Stone county loses on of its pioneer citizens, the kind of a man who has made this nation what it is today, and a man who finished his mission with the honor and respect of all with whom he came in contact.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, Dr. J. B., of _enedy, Texas, Dr. S. B., of Little Rock,  Scudder of Waldron and Prof. John A., of this place.  A brother, John a Hinkle of Batesville, also survives.

In saying words of love and praise of Dr. Hinkle, the Record feels that it is paying a tribute to itself, for in him the county possessed its greatest benefactor, and in his death has suffered an irreparable loss.
