A bit of history: St. Francis County was created on October 13, 1827. The St. Francis River declared the boundary line between Crittenden County on November 03, 1831. A part of Jackson County was attached on January 01, 1851. St. Francis County was named for the St. Francis River, which was a major route for pioneer traffic.

The County Seat of St. Francis County is Forrest City.
