Please remember, if your ancestor lived on the east side of Van Buren County, and died before 1883 you might want to check some of the cemeteries in Cleburne County as it was formed out of that part of Van Buren County in 1883.

I wanted to insert this note I got from Mary Miller about the re-located cemeteries from the large lake that was built in Cleburne and Van Buren Counties. There were a great number of graves moved to other locations.

Sept 22, 2004
"My cousin and I were talking about Higden/McLehaney cemetery (all my family is there). Abe Turney and his two wives - Amanda Gray and Susan McLehaney, Abe was among the first after Civil War to get a plot in the new Higden cemetery. He had Amanda buried on one side, and Susan on the other, some of their children, and also his sister-in-law Elizabeth Gray Barnum. Well......today Abe and Amanda are buried together at Higden-McLehaney, Elizabeth Gray Barnum is in same cemetery but not that close.....and poor Susan McLehaney Turney is buried over in Eglantine cemetery. Now looking at that, see how it has messed everything up so much? Families were seperated and buried in different places, when originally they lay side by side." Mary

Take 16 east from Clinton towards Shirley for 1.8 miles to Burnt Ridge Road, turn right, you are traveling south now down a pretty steep hill, at bottom(about a block) turn right onto Faye's Forest Road. Go about 2 1/2 miles on this road, you come to Johnson Hole Road, turn left onto it and then about 50 feet or so, left again and you can see cemetery gate, All of these roads are paved, so if you find yourself on a dirt road, you are lost. 34

Johnson Take 16 east from Clinton towards Shirley for 1.8 miles to Burnt Ridge Road, turn right, you are traveling south now down a pretty steep hill, at bottom(about a block) turn right onto Faye's Forest Road.
