The Web sight is user friendly and I have enjoyed myvisit.I am researching my gg-grandparents, James & Margaret YOUNGER.It is my understanding from an article I read in the Pope Co.Historian that James along with his sons had an ox driven freightbusiness between Quitman and Clarksville before the railroad putthem out of business. I am trying to locate James and Margaretduring that time frame (I estimate to be between 1865 and whenthe railroad came) and where they were buried.Good luck to you in presenting Van Buren to the world!Carolyne

I've been looking for a GGGrandpa, George Wiley Wright, he had land at Van Buren, Co. We don't know that much about him. He was born in England about 1830, London, and Died in 1915. He was 96 years old, so the family tell's me. He was buried at Union Hill Cemetery, (Formosa). I would love to know more about him. If anyone can look up some things for me, I would pay for any help and postage, if anyone could find something on him. If there was a Obit. Land record. He left my GGGrandmother for 20 years and when she died in Okl. he showed up. Her name was Nancy Jane Barber, Wright. Storey had it that he either had another wife or was living with another women. His daughter was Julia Ann Wright, White and another daughter was Annie. Also storey was told that he was in the Civil War, but no record's have been found. Any Info E-Mail Rosieth@aol.com

GOODMAN, MOORE, CRONE, TUCKER, FOWLER, GOOCH My Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandma Mary "Polly" Tucker Moore, b. @1797 NC died 1859 bu. Goodloe Cemetery in Quitman, came to Van Buren Co. AR in the mid 1850s. Mary "Polly" Tucker Moore, widow of Hugh A. Moore, came to Quitman, AR @1855 with her daughter, Charlotta Moore Goodman and son-in-law Henry Goodman. Two of Mary Tucker Moore's sons lived here about that time, George W. Moore b. @1821 MS and Hugh R. L. Moore b. @1829 MS. The men came by flatboat from Greers Ferry, Roane Co. TN as far as they could before traveling by land. We believe that Henry returned for the women and younger son, Hugh R. L. and his new bride, Mary Conerd. George Moore and his wife, Minerva Jane Goodman (Henry Goodman's sister) had settled in Van Buren Co., AR first and were on the 1850 Census. Another of Henry Goodman's sister's, Nancy Goodman Crone was here by 1860 with her husband George Crone, they arrived from Cherokee Co., AL. I suspect there were other Goodman relatives in the area but I only know of the 3 siblings so far. I would be happy to hear from other's searching my lines. My direct line Mary Tucker b. & 1797 NC & Hugh A. Lynn, I am amazed at what you have done with this site. It is wonderful. I also know how hard it is to read some of those old court records. Maybe one of these days you'll run across a record to prove that "my" Harriett's maiden name was Michael. Joyce

Beautiful website. I am descendant of Daniel and Malinda Polk Williams and of Isaac and Sarah Justice Perkins of Van Buren County. My Williams ancestors arrived in 1846. My grandfather, Henry Bruce Williams, was born 1889 in Clinton. Have extensive Williams, Polk, Perkins data and related family data in Van Buren County.

I descend from Peter Gideon and Dicey Belle [Potter] Turney through their daughter, Nancy, who married a W. David Martin. There seems to be quite a bit of information on Nancy and her family; however, very little of her husband and his family. Would anyone out there know about the Martin clan?

Thanks for your great site. I will bookmark it and return often. Surnames from Van Buren County I am researching are: WEBB, BRICKEY, RILEY, PARNELL, COUCH, POWELL. Especially looking for information in Jasper WEBB's family. He married Elizabeth BRICKEY. His father was James Jefferson WEBB who was on the 1850 and 1855 census. The 1860 Census finds him in Carroll County, but he died right after the Civil War, so his wife, Elizabeth and children moved back to Van Buren County. Any information would be greatly appreciated

I failed to say who I am looking for information on. My English/Inglish ancestor John R. and Sarah Kennedy English came to Van Buren County in between 1855 and 1860. My gr-gr grandfather Daniel P. English was married there to Elizabeth Williams. That was 1880, I think? My grandma always said Elizabeth was somehow step related to Elvis Presley but my grandma was a creative character. My great-grandmother, the one I named my daughter for, was born in Van Buren County in 1889. Her name was Allie Pearl English/Englis/Inglish. She had all brothers. I can remember from my records that Hester/Esther is buried in Van Buren County but I believe he is the only one? I know they went to OK or the border of it for some time and John R. and Sarah ended up in TX as one of them is still alive in the 1900 census and living with a daughter. Looking for another English family member who might stumble upon this. I hope to one day come to Van Buren County since it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive from here.
