Mary Elizabeth Brown Shelton, John Shelton and James "Jim" Gibbons, In front are Bessie Laverne and Adele Shelton..

These are my Greatgrandparents. John Shelton and Mary Elizabeth Brown Shelton, with my Grandmother Bessie Shelton, her sister Adele and half brother James Gibbon's. They left Van Buren Co. in that wagon, going to Oklahoma as John Shelton had what was called consumption, which we know as TB. They went to Oklahoma hoping to cure him. I found him in Atoka Co., OK working on a farm in the 1910 census. My grandmother said he was buried in a Redhill Cemetery, but it was a Redden Cemetery near a town called Redden, OK. At least she remembered the red part and she was only 12 years old. I had been looking for him for more than 20 years before I found him. Can you even think about leaving Van Buren Co. which is in North centeral Arkansas, probably crossing the Arkansas River at Ft Smith then going to the SE corner of the state in that wagon?.
