 TN, Perry Co. AR, and Boone Co. AR

Remarks:  He served in Black Hawk – Florida War.  Was a
 “Phisian” in Boone Co. AR for 25 years when he died in his 60th year.
 He was son of David Vance who lived at Battle Creek, TN when he died

Name of mother:  Emily E. Austin, daughter of John Austin and
 Mary Austin of Crow Creek, AL

Occupation:  Taught school for two years and went into merchantile
 business and remained for 21 years and traded on the
 road for a government house.  For the last 8 years,
 have been writing property insurance

 June 15, 1865 at Clarksville, AR as a Pvt. In Co. D,
 Hararells Battalion, Cabil’s Brig

Wife & date of marriage:  Biancia and Terry Hicks. Biancia died in
 1876 and Terry died 1889.  Was married in Marshall
 Prairie in  Boon Co. AR, daughters of Jonathan A. Hicks
 and Susan Hicks of Marshall Prairie, AR

Comments:  They were from TN.  Jonathan Hicks was Clerk of
 Carroll County from 1840 to 1846.  He married Susan
 Poynor, Buck Poynor’s daughter.  He sold goods up to
 the war in Marshall Prairie.
