Housed in the old Courthouse building in downtown St. John's completed in 1650, the Museum presents a series of displays which interpret the story of the islands from their geological birth through political independence to the present day. |
The displays were designed particularly with children in mind, conveying their content effectively without long captions, and they are interactive with signs saying “Please Touch!’" .
Primary objectives are education and the study of national history. The Museum presents to the people of Antigua and Barbuda, and to international visitors, a view of the islands’ overall history. It tries to convey a sense of Antigua and Barbuda’s unique heritage, and to instill in its people a sense of identity and pride.
