Because Historic A+B is still under development I hope you will visit frequently to check for recent changes and new articles.
This month in Historical Sketches and Guest Articles we are presenting an introduction to upcoming archaeological work at Betty's Hope Plantation in Antigua by Ms. Catherine Mary Christensen who is doing graduate study in Historical Archaeology at The College of William and Mary.
Ms. Christensen will be conducting site-work at Betty's Hope this summer in preparation for her thesis, and we hope to present updates regarding her work as information becomes available.
In addition this month we are pleased to begin publishing extracts from the Historical Society Newsletters of the Museum of A+B which will be archived on the site by month of issue.
I encourage those with a serious interest in Antiguan History or Archaeology to join the Society and support it's fine work of exploring and preserving things historical on the islands.
My Special thanks to Mr. Desmond Nicholson, President of the Society for granting us permission to publish the Newsletter, and for his enthusiastic help in making this site possible.
In closing, I'd like to spotlight the recent efforts of "CanDoo Publishing" in the person of Mr. James Challenor Lynch of Barbados, Antigua and Toronto who has recently completed a Limited Edition Reproduction of "The History of Antigua" by Vere Langford Oliver. The History is the first in a series of re-publishing efforts aimed to assure survival of important West Indian resource-works most of which are becoming rare or inaccessible in book form . Preparations are underway to produce several other important works including the entire set of "Caribbeana" edited by V.L. Oliver. For further information, please visit his web-site at: http://www.candoo.com/projects/index.htm
Hope you enjoy Historic Antigua and Barbuda, and find something of interest here.
