"Obituary - Late Mr. J. H. Davies. The death occurred on Saturday, 7th February, at the Hotel Carnamah, of Mr. J. H. Davies, at the age of 65 years, who has been residing here for the last twelve months, during which time he made many friends. Previous to coming to Carnamah, Mr Davies had the hotel at Dongara, and later the Midland Hotel, Mogumber, where he was a well known figure at the refreshment room for many years. During his stay at Mogumber he took a keen interest in local affairs and was for some time secretary of the Mogumber Race Club. In his young days in England Mr Davies was a prominent rifle shot and won many trophies. The deceased had been ailing in health for some time and suffered very ill health, the cause of death being a paralytic stroke. Deceased leaves a widow and one son to mourn their loss. Their elder son Frank was killed in the great war in 1915. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and the remains were conveyed, per car, to Three Springs for burial. Quite a number of people from all parts of the district paid their last tribute of respect at the graveside. The deepest sympathy is felt for Mrs Davies and her son George. The following gentleman acted as pall bearers: Messrs D. Macpherson and J. Bowman (Carnamah), Phil Lynch and T. Berrigan (Three Springs), E. A. Field (Mingenew), and C. Smith (Yandanooka)."

Carnamah Fatalities - Two Young Men Killed - Motor Cycle and Truck
"Quite a gloom was cast over Carnamah on Saturday evening last as the result of two young men being killed through a motor cycle which they were riding crashing into the rear of a motor truck on the road about one mile north of Carnamah. The victims of the sad occurrence were George Blake Demel (25), of Keane Street, Peppermint Grove, who was driving the cycle, and his pillion passenger, Ronald Alfred Dewar (22), of Carnamah, the tragedy occurring early in the evening when the two young men were returning from Carnamah to the farming property of the latter's parents (Mr. and Mrs. P. Dewar). Both lads were only sons and the tragedy happened on the twenty-second birthday of Ronald Dewar. Until a few months ago George Demel was employed as a senior technician at the Carnamah Post-Office, and both young men were particularly well known and extremely popular amongst a large circle of friends.
In the presence of a large attendance of residents from all parts of the district, the funeral of Ronald Dewar took place in the Winchester Cemetery on Monday afternoon last, the procession from Carnamah comprising between eighty and ninety motor cars.
The funeral of the other young man (George Demel) took place in the Karrakatta Crematorium on Tuesday afternoon last."

"Two young men were killed instantly on Saturday when the motor cycle they were riding crashed in the rear of a stationary truck about a mile north of the town. Men, George Blake Demel, single, about 25, and his pillion passenger Ronald Alfred Dewar, 22, were returning to Dewar's farm when the accident occurred. Remains of the late Ron Dewar were laid to rest in the Winchester Cemetery on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. Funeral procession from Carnamah was the largest seen: over 84 cars followed. Pall Bearers were: Messrs E. H. Gurr, E. K. Wells, A. C. Bierman and C. Robertson. Casket Bearers: Messrs John Diamond, P. Lynch, Stan Fawcett and B. Fawcett. Last rites were conducted at the graveside by Rev. Patrick. A crematorium service was held on Tuesday, April 29, at Karrakatta for the late G. Demel. All sporting fixtures for Sunday 27th were cancelled."

"Death of a Native. Arising out of an altercation between natives at a camp on Messrs. Hollingsworth Bros.' property at Carnamah, the death occurred in the early hours of Monday morning of Joachim Dido (71), an old Aboriginal identity of the Carnamah district. The late Dido, although a full blooded aboriginal, was nevertheless well respected throughout the district, and the news of his untimely demise came as a shock to all who had known him. Originally coming from the North West he spent many years around the Moora district, but eventually migrated to Carnamah, where he was one of a number of natives retained by the late Donald Macpherson. Following the late Mr. Macpherson's death, he spent a short period in the Three Springs district, but for several years past has been employed by Messrs. Hollingsworth Bros. A particular good worker and entirely trustworthy, he was highly thought of by all who had employed him. Dido was twice married. His first union was a rather tragic one as, although several children were born, they all died with the exception of one daughter, who spent several years in the employ of the Macpherson family, and later returned to the mission, where we believe she also died. Embarking on matrimony a second time, Dido chose for his wife Jessie Farrell, a widow, some years younger than himself. One child (Mary) was born and she, the widow, and a stepson (Arthur Farrell, A.I.F.) are left to mourn the passing of Dido. Vale Dido, a coloured gentleman."
