Sham Champagne

Slice 1 large lemon and bruise 1oz whole ginger.

Put them in a clean kerosene tin with 1oz tartaric acid and 1-1/2 lbs white sugar.

Pour 2-1/2 gallons of boiling water over it and let stand till only slightly warm.

Add 1 gill (6 tablespoons) of yeast, cover tin and stand in the sun all day. Bottle and tie down the corks.

It is ready to drink in 2 days.
