A small group of people came together in 1977 to assist each other in their family research.

Our first home
1978 - 1979 |
| |
|
|
By
1978 the first official meeting was held at MADEC (Mildura and District
Education Centre) with 15 people attending.
Over the years we and our ever
increasing library of resources has out grown a number of "homes". |

Our second home 1979 -
1983
 |
| |
|
Home number three was at the
Education Centre, 13th Street 1983 -1985

|
And this was followed by 6 years in
Room 6
of the Mildura and District Education Centre from 1985 - 1991
 |
| |
|
|
From there we moved to the
conference room
at the Boulevard Motel, 1991-1998
 |
| |
|
| In 1997 the Mildura Rural City Council was
planning to build a new Library for the City, great news!
Even greater news - the Council in their wisdom invited our Society
to be part of the steering committee to
re-develop the old Carnegie building, ex-home of our city Library, as a
Local History/Genealogy Resource Centre. |
| |
|
 |
Fifteen months later the building was ready for use
and in June 1998 the Society moved 'lock, stock
and barrel'.
What would we do without our hardworking
volunteers!! |

 |
Here we are, home at last!
The Carnegie Centre, 74 Deakin Avenue, Mildura.

| So from modest beginnings,
membership continued to grow as more people became interested in
researching
their family tree.
The Society presently has more than 120 members and our membership
is
still growing.
