President's
Report

Guse
The last three months seem to have come and gone rather rapidly.I would like to thank those members who sold tickets in the Community Fundraiser and the Stamp Club for donating their funds on winding up. These additional funds enabled us to purchase the new computer for the Society.
Guest speaker at the May meeting was Robyn Till, the Collections and Grounds Maintenance Co-Ordinator at the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement. Robyn gave us an insight into how the collections have been handled in the past, present procedures and the Settlement's future plans.
In June, Mackillop College students Leah Ryan, Olivia Birch and teacher Bryan Mackenzie told of their recent trip to Istanbul where they attended the 85th Anniversary Commemorative Service of Anzac Day at Gallipoli.
For July an information session was held on some of more unusual microfiche in our collection. The old bottles brought along, also created some interest amongst members.
A reminder to those members who attended the Internet Sessions at Dowling House on the 15th and 22nd July - Please complete your Logs and return as soon as possible.
With the installation of the Society's new computer last month, one of the first major tasks to be undertaken will be the re-formatting of the Zaetta negatives using the Scanner and CD Writer which have been ordered by the Swan Hill Regional Library.
Due to the state of these negatives, it is important that re-formatting commences as soon as possible. In order to do this, we will require members who can volunteer their time to be trained in the use of the Scanner and CD Writer and then on a regular basis proceed with the re-formatting of the negatives. Members who are able to assist with this project please contact me on 50329271 AH.I would also like to congratulate members Steve Pentreath and Alan Wood on participating as Torch Bearers in the Olympic Relay. They both have a special memory to pass onto future generations.
Next month is our Annual General Meeting and details of the Dinner Meeting, guest speaker etc are included on a separate sheet. Please consider coming along.
As this will be my last newsletter report, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the current committee for their support over the past two years, and I wish the new President and committee all the best.

As Research Officer for our Group I am shocked (and inconvenienced) that a user of our facilities would misappropriate 13 Microfiche from the Victorian Pioneer Index.
